What this page covers

This is the power side of an Azuga dash cam install: the cables, the mounts and the lens covers sold in the Azuga shop. The camera pages tell you what the cameras do. This page tells you what you need to feed one. All prices below are the price listed on shop.azuga.com on 2026-10-21. Shop prices change, so confirm before you order.

Older AI SafetyCam parts, labelled AI12

The shop also sells parts for the earlier AI SafetyCam. Many carry the label "Surfsight AI12." That suggests Surfsight hardware, but no Azuga page says so, so we treat it as not verified. Check the label against your camera before you order.

Choosing between OBD, hardwire and the outlet

RouteWhat Azuga saysWhere it fits
OBD-II Y-cableOne leg goes to the OBD tracker, the other to the camera power cable. Vehicle off while connecting.Fastest. Needs an OBD port you can reach and a tracker on the other leg. Azuga says that tracker must be 4G LTE for SafetyCam pairing.
Hardwire to the fuse boxRed constant 12 V fuse, yellow switched 12 V, black to a bare metal chassis bolt. 12 V or 24 V, minimum 2 A.Permanent feed. Needs a meter and a clean ground.
12 V auxiliary outletListed as an option on the Azuga dash cam page.We did not see an outlet cable in the shop listing we reviewed. Ask Azuga which part to use.

The fuse and ground details that decide whether it works

  • Add-a-fuse: original fuse in the bottom slot (slot 2), camera fuse in the top slot (slot 1). Reversed order may block power.
  • Blade orientation: the outer blade must face the powered side of the fuse slot. Test it.
  • Crimps: crimp the terminals and pull-test each one.
  • Ground: bare metal, not paint. A loose ground is a power problem that looks like a dead camera.
  • Draw: about 32 mA on standby and about 225 mA active at 12 V, so the fuse tap is not carrying much.

The earlier AI SafetyCam hardwire guide adds its own rule: constant fuse only. It also has its own kit order, camera in slot 1 and vehicle fuse in slot 2.

Mounts and lens covers

Azuga's own mounting steps use a plate that you press on the glass for 30 seconds and then leave for at least 15 minutes before the camera goes on. The shop sells a replacement windshield mount for each model. The lens covers are listed separately, and the Pro has one specifically for the driver lens. Azuga does not publish what the covers are for, so ask before you buy them for a fleet.

Which parts to order, in plain terms

  • One Plus on a vehicle with a free OBD port: the Plus OBD power cable.
  • One Pro: the Pro hardwire cable. The Pro OBD cable showed sold out when we checked.
  • A fleet of mixed Plus and Pro: a part number list by vehicle, so nobody grabs the wrong cable.
  • Not sure of the model: read the serial first. J is a Plus. L is a Pro.

One page for each power cable, mount and cover

Each part below has its own page with the shop price, what it does, what to check and how we would use it. Part photos are from the Azuga shop.

Where to go next

Which cable does a SafetyCam Plus use?

The Plus has its own two cables in the Azuga shop: a hardwire power cable (C-PLUS-HW) and an OBD power cable (C-PLUS-OBD). Each was listed at $25 on 2026-10-21. The Pro has matching ones, so match the part number to the camera serial before you order.

Can I power a SafetyCam from a USB port?

No. Azuga says USB power is not valid for the SafetyCam. Its dash cam page lists three power options: the 12 V auxiliary outlet, a hardwire to the battery, or the OBD-II Y-cable.

Why does the add-a-fuse order matter?

Azuga says the original fuse goes in the bottom slot (slot 2) and the camera fuse in the top slot (slot 1). Reversed, power may be blocked. The outer blade of the fuse must also face the powered side of the slot, which you confirm with a test.
