How each Azuga device goes in, what Azuga says to watch for, and how to prove it is working before you leave the vehicle.
This is the install walk-through for every Azuga device we could verify. It follows Azuga's own help center, with our checks added where they matter. Each device also has a technical page with an animated light guide. Read the device page for the part you are installing, then use this page as the checklist.
| Device | How it goes in | Page |
|---|---|---|
| OBD-II tracker | Vehicle off, plug into the 16-pin port. Extension cable if behind a panel, Y-cable if the port is taken. | OBD-II tracker |
| JBus tracker | 16-pin port directly, or a cable for a 6 or 9 pin port. | JBus tracker |
| 3-wire hardwired | Red to constant 12 V, black to ground, white to ignition. Under the dash, label up, 6 inches from metal. | 3-wire |
| 2-wire hardwired | Red to constant 12 or 24 V, black to ground. Same mounting rules. | 2-wire |
| SafetyCam Pro or Plus | Power by OBD Y-cable or hardwire, aim both lenses on live view, then mount. | Pro, Plus |
| AI SafetyCam (earlier) | Y-cable, hardwire or lighter adapter. Never plain USB. Mirror mount or suction cup. | AI SafetyCam |
| Asset trackers | Follow the device page, since activation and mounting steps differ by model. | GL502A, GV620MG |
Azuga names the three wires plainly: red is 12 V constant, black is ground, white is ignition (12 V on, 0 V off). Azuga calls the connection method "poke and wrap," and says not to install on any battery source above 24 V DC. The guide also says to confirm constant with a meter and to secure the cables only after the light check passes.
Our rule is the same as on every job. Prove constant, prove ignition, prove ground, then tie it down. A white wire on a circuit that never switches off is the kind of mistake that looks fine on day one and shows up as bad trip data later. Azuga does not say that in its guide. That part is our experience, not an Azuga statement.
The plug-in is quick, which is why many fleets try it themselves. The jobs that need us are the ones with a crowded port, a heavy truck, a hardwired unit or a camera that has to be aimed and tested. Those are the jobs this guide spends most of its words on.
