The simplest hardwired Azuga tracker: what the two wires do, how it differs from the 3-wire unit, and what Azuga has not explained.
The Azuga 2-wire hardwired tracker has just two connections: constant power and ground. Azuga's help article is titled "2-Wired OBD-II Installation Guide," and the Azuga Fleet mobile app lists it as "Hardwired GPS Tracker" along with the 3-wire version. It has a built-in GPS antenna, a plastic housing with optional bolt slots, and a 10 digit serial number.
This page is about what is different from the 3-wire unit. If you want the ignition wire version, go to the 3-wire tracker page.
| Wire | Function | What Azuga says |
|---|---|---|
| Red | Constant power | 12 or 24 volts, always live |
| Black | Ground | 0 volts, to a good ground |
Azuga says the device must not go on a battery source greater than 24 volts DC. Compared with the 3-wire guide, this is the one that states 24 volt operation plainly.
There is no white ignition wire. Azuga's 2-wire guide does not explain how the tracker knows the vehicle is on, and we have not found another Azuga page that does. That matters for anything built on engine state, such as idle time and engine hours. We are not saying the unit cannot do it. We are saying Azuga has not told us how, so ask.
Vehicles where tapping an ignition wire is awkward, and 24 volt systems under the 24 volt DC limit, where the fleet mainly wants location and trip history.
Fleets that depend on ignition-based reports, until Azuga confirms how the 2-wire unit handles them. Also fleets that want to use harness features, which Azuga ties to the three-wire hardwired design in its blog.
Azuga's shop lists a 2 wire hardwire extension cable, 1000 mm, part C601-0011. The price listed on shop.azuga.com on 2026-10-21 was $9.99. It is covered on the extension cables page.
Two habits apply to every hardwired install. Confirm the wiring diagram that came with the unit matches the unit in your hand, and write down the serial number, the wire colors and what the lights did. If a unit does not report, that record lets Azuga support help you quickly.

Azuga's 2-wire guide says the red wire is 12 or 24 volt constant power, and that the device must not be installed on a battery source above 24 volts DC.
Two wires are simpler to connect and leave out the ignition tap. What you give up is not fully explained by Azuga, so ask how the unit decides the vehicle is running before you count on engine hours or idle reports.
Azuga says a red light blinking every two seconds means the install failed. Repeat the install steps.
Azuga's 2-wire guide says a shop mechanic or installer will know how to do the work. The wiring is two wires, but the checks matter: a meter on the constant, a clean ground and the right mounting spot.
Tell us how many vehicles and what they are. We'll quote the installation.
