What Azuga is, what the hardware does once it is in a vehicle, what fleets really pay, and where it fits best. Written by API Signal, an independent installer that works with every major platform.
Azuga is a fleet tracking and driver safety company. Bridgestone's own announcements say it was founded in 2012 and is based in Fremont, in Silicon Valley, and that Ananth Rani was CEO of Azuga Holdings when Bridgestone Americas bought it. The price was $391 million, announced August 2, 2021 and completed September 7, 2021. More than 400 Azuga employees in the United States and India joined Bridgestone at that point.
Azuga is not a tire company. The Bridgestone completion release says it stayed headquartered in Fremont, and the website footer now reads "a Bridgestone company." We looked for a feature that reads tire data from Firestone or Bridgestone tires and found none. The only tire feature we found Azuga list is tire pressure monitoring in its SafeFleet plan, which uses data the vehicle already reports.

Azuga is easy to start with and strong on driver safety. Driver scores, alerts and coaching are built in, a plug-in tracker goes in within minutes, and a SafetyCam can be added when you want video. We install every device Azuga sells.
Service fleets of about 5 to 99 light and medium vehicles that want driver scores, a dash cam option and a simple plug-in install. Azuga's own site draws its small business line at under 100 vehicles.
Very small fleets of one to four vehicles should ask Azuga about minimums first. Heavy long-haul fleets that run on hours of service should ask Azuga which ELD and route add-ons they need.
We install the same way whatever the fleet size. What changes is how we schedule and verify the work.
Not sure where you land? The By Fleet Size page walks through what Azuga fits at each size.
On every hardwired job we run the same check: constant, ignition and ground, proven with a meter before anything is tied down.
