API Signal has been installing GPS trackers, dash cameras and telematics hardware for 35 years, on more than 11,000 vehicles. Most of what we have learned under the dash is on this site, and this page is the front door to all of it.
Everything here is open to use at no charge. If you are a technician looking up a wire color beside a truck, a shop owner deciding whether fleet work is worth adding, or an independent installer who wants steady jobs in your own area, start with the block that matches what you came for. Nothing on this page asks you to sign up or pay to read it.
Join Our NetworkWe pass screened fleet GPS and camera jobs to independent installers near the work, one installer per job, never sold to a crowd of bidders. See how it works, what it costs and what we look for.
Wiring DataConstant, ignition, ground and lighting wires by make, model and year, with where each one is found and the source it came from. Pick a vehicle and go straight to its page. Missing one? Email us the year, make and model and we will add it.
Install GuidesTwelve plain-language guides covering the work every install depends on: finding a true ignition wire, relays, diodes, resistors, the CAN bus and OBD-II port, fault codes before and after, and the tools in our kit.
OBD-II and J1939 Y-cables, T-harnesses, power supplies and the other install parts we use on our own jobs, so the parts that keep a tracker from being kicked loose are easy to get. Coming soon.
Callbacks cost everyone. A tracker spliced into the wrong wire goes quiet a week later, the fleet blames the platform, and the next installer on that truck inherits the mess. Every guide and wiring page here is written to stop that from happening, and we note where each wire came from and whether our own team has metered it.
We also write down what we do on our own installs: the fault code check before and after, the way we route camera power around an airbag, and where a device hides so it does not get kicked loose. None of it is secret, and an installer who has it on hand is less likely to be the reason a fleet stops trusting its tracking.
No wiring information is ever guaranteed. Colors and locations change with trim, options and build date, so confirm every connection on the vehicle in front of you.
Have a correction or a vehicle we have not covered? Email us at info@apisignalcorp.com. Installers who send us good information make these pages better for everyone who uses them next.
Technicians on the job. The wiring database and install guides are written to be quick to use at the side of a vehicle. Each wiring page lists where the wire is, what color it is and where the information came from, so you can decide how far to trust it before you probe.
Shop owners weighing fleet work. Fleet GPS and camera installs are steady, repeatable work that most twelve-volt shops never see. The guides show the standard we hold our own installs to, and Join Our Network explains how we pass jobs to shops near the work.
Independent installers. If you already install telematics and want more of it close to home, the network is the place to start. We screen every job before it reaches you, and each job goes to one installer at a time.
