The cable that runs from the fuse box to the earlier Azuga AI SafetyCam. Here is what the shop says, where Azuga's own pages disagree, and how we would install it.

| Where it fits | The earlier AI SafetyCam. The shop labels it for the Surfsight AI12, which no Azuga page explains, so treat that label as not verified. |

The Azuga shop lists this as a hardwire power cable for the AI SafetyCam. It runs from the vehicle fuse box, and the shop points out that this keeps the accessory power outlet free for the driver. It gives three wire colors: red is constant 12 V, white is ignition 12 V and black is ground. It lists a price of $20, the same as the OBD power cable for the same camera.
Azuga's help center has a separate hardwire guide for this camera. Its main rule is to use a constant fuse only and to ground to unpainted bare metal. Our notes from Azuga's install material for this camera also describe the ignition lead as yellow, where the shop calls it white. The pages we read do not explain the difference, and they do not say what to do with the ignition lead when the guide says constant only.
So we treat the colors as a conflict, not a fact. Meter every lead before you tap it. If the ignition lead is not needed, ask Azuga what to do with it before you cut or tape it back.
The fuse order and the ground rule are Azuga's. The test light, the routing and the securing habits are ours.
| Question | Hardwire cable | OBD power cable |
|---|---|---|
| Uses the OBD port | No | Yes, so the port is occupied |
| Install time | Longer, a fuse box job | Shorter, plug in |
| Easy to unplug | No, it is wired in | Yes, a driver can pull it |
| Needs a meter | Yes | No |
The table is our reading of the two routes, not an Azuga comparison. If the OBD port already holds a tracker, hardwiring avoids the extra connector. If the customer wants it done in five minutes, the OBD cable wins.
Azuga does not say, and the shop sells a different cable for each camera. Match the part to the camera.
The kit has an add-a-fuse. The pages we read do not give an amp rating, so read what is printed on the kit and on the vehicle fuse you are replacing.
Hardwire if the OBD port is busy or the customer does not want a plug a driver can pull. OBD if speed matters. See the OBD cable page for the other side.
