What these cables are for

A heavy-duty truck rarely has the same diagnostic port as a van. The round 6 pin and 9 pin ports on trucks need a cable between the truck and the Azuga JBus tracker or the JBus version of the Azuga ELD. Azuga sells those cables in its official shop, shop.azuga.com. This page lists the six we found, with part numbers and prices, and explains how to choose.

Heads up

Prices are as listed on shop.azuga.com on 2026-10-21 and can change. Check the shop before you order.

Which one do I need?

Work down this list. Stop at the first line that matches the truck.

  1. The truck has a 16 pin port. You may not need a JBus cable at all. Azuga says to plug in directly or use an extension cable if the port is deep.
  2. The truck has a 6 pin port. Use the 6 pin extender cable, C601-0014. If the port is already in use, use the 6 pin Y-cable, C601-0014-MT.
  3. The truck has a 9 pin port. Pick Type 1, Type 1 twist-lock or Type 2 twist-lock to match the connector in front of you.
  4. The truck has a 14 pin RP1226 connector. The adapter exists, but it was sold out. Ask Azuga when it will be back.
  5. You cannot tell. Take a photo of the port. Match it before you buy.

What the shop does not tell you

  • How Type 1 and Type 2 differ. The shop lists both. The Azuga pages we read do not describe the difference.
  • What the letters TL stand for. The shop labels them as twist-lock, but Azuga does not describe the locking style.
  • A 9 pin Y-cable. The install guide says a Y-cable is used when a 6 pin or 9 pin port is occupied. The shop listing only shows a 6 pin Y-cable.
  • The cable length of the 14 pin RP1226 adapter. The shop text for the other five gives about 800 mm, and the adapter lists none.
  • The Y-cable for the 16 pin OBD-II port. Install guides mention it. It was not in the shop listing.

Azuga's install guide also does not say whether an existing device must be removed before the Azuga cable goes on an occupied 6 pin or 9 pin port. Ask first, especially if the existing device is an ELD from another company.

Ordering tips from an installer's point of view

Order one of every cable that might fit a mixed fleet and test on the first truck of each kind. Fifteen dollars is cheap next to a second truck visit. Record the part number on the work order so the right cable follows the right truck. If you are rolling out a larger fleet, ask us about our Azuga installation service so the port check happens before the order goes in.

One page for each JBus cable

Each part below has its own page with the shop price, what it does, what to check and how we would use it. Part photos are from the Azuga shop.

Which Azuga cable do I need for a truck with a 9 pin port?

Azuga's shop lists three 9 pin extender cables: Type 1, Type 1 twist-lock and Type 2 twist-lock. The pages we read do not explain how the types differ. Look at the connector on the truck, or send a photo to Azuga or to us, before you order.

Is there a Y-cable for the 16 pin OBD-II port?

Azuga's install guides mention one, but we did not find it in the shop listing we read. The only Y-cable we saw there is the JBUS 6 Pin Standard Y Cable.

Is the RP1226 14 pin adapter available?

It was listed as sold out when we looked on 2026-10-21. Check the shop for current stock.

Do I need any cable if the truck has a 16 pin port?

Azuga's JBus guide says a 16 pin port takes the device directly, or with an extension cable if the port is deep or covered.
