A Y-cable lets two devices share one 6 pin diagnostic port on a heavy truck. Here is what Azuga says it does, what it does not say, and how we think about using it.

This is the 6 pin standard Y cable in the Azuga shop. The shop describes it as an 800 mm cable, about 2.5 feet, made for trucks with 6 pin JBUS ports. Its job is to let two devices connect at the same time without interrupting the data flow. That is all the shop text says, and we are careful not to add to it.
Heavy trucks usually have one diagnostic port, and that port is often already taken. An electronic logging device, a transmission tool or an older tracker may already be sitting in it. If you simply unplug it, something stops working. A Y-cable gives you one plug into the truck and two sockets on the other end, so the original device stays in service and the new one rides along.
Azuga's own install guide for its logging device describes the same idea on the 16 pin car and light truck port: when that port is occupied, use the Y-cable. The guide does not say whether an occupied 6 pin or 9 pin heavy truck port needs the existing device removed first. We treat that as not verified.
If nothing else is plugged into the port and you only need to move the connection point to a better spot, the plain extender cable is the simpler part. If another device must stay connected, you need the Y. Pick by what is in the port today, not by price.
No. The shop sells this one for 6 pin ports. The 9 pin cables in the shop are extender cables, listed separately, and we did not see a 9 pin Y cable in the listing we reviewed.
We do not know. The shop text does not list compatible Azuga devices, so we will not claim it. Ask Azuga before you order for a fleet.
It can reach the same place, but it costs about twice as much. Use the Y only when a second device has to stay connected.
