On paratransit vans, school buses and medical transport vehicles, every wheelchair lift cycle is a passenger boarding or leaving. We wire lift status into GPS trackers so each deployment is recorded and every lift is maintained on real use, across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

Most vehicle wheelchair lifts are electro hydraulic platforms that fold inside the side or rear door. The operator deploys the lift, lowers it to the ground, raises it with the passenger and stows it. Lifts have interlocks that keep the vehicle from moving while the lift is out, and many have status or interlock circuits that can be read safely by a tracker through an isolated input.
Wire references are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Paratransit and medical transport providers report trips to agencies and payers, and a record of lift use at each pickup and drop off supports those reports. Lift manufacturers set maintenance intervals by cycles, and an accurate cycle count keeps lifts safe and in service.
Dispatchers also benefit. Seeing when the lift goes out and comes back in shows how long each accessible boarding really takes, which improves scheduling and reduces late pickups for riders who depend on the service.
After the install we run a full lift cycle with the vehicle parked, deploy, lower, raise and stow, and confirm the tracker records each step correctly while the lift interlock still works exactly as before.
Lift status works well with door sensors and passenger counting on buses. See our school bus tracking page and van and box truck sensor tracking.
Paratransit operators, non-emergency medical transportation companies, school districts with special needs buses, senior living communities and transit agencies.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
