Parents want to know where the bus is, and districts need to know what happened at each stop. We wire the warning lights, stop arm and wheelchair lift into the tracker, so every stop is recorded with what the bus did there.
Fleet installs from $65 per vehicle. Testing a few vehicles first? We do pilot installs too.
Each picture shows the part that gets wired into the tracker, circled in red. These are illustrations, not photos of customer trucks. The sections below explain how each one is monitored.
The amber and red warning lights have their own circuits. Wired to the tracker, they record when the bus was preparing to stop and when it was stopped with reds on, stop by stop.
The stop arm's extended signal records each stop. Stop arm cameras are triggered by the same circuit to capture vehicles passing the bus. See our stop arm camera installation page.
Yes. The lift door and lift have interlock signals. Wired in, they record each lift use with the location, for special needs routes and paratransit.
Buses often carry tracking, cameras, rider card readers and passenger counters together. We install them in one plan. See bus system installation.
School buses already have warning light controllers, stop arm motors, door interlocks, radios and often camera systems. We trace each circuit before we tap it, keep our connections fused and separate, and test every input with the bus's own controls: amber on, reds on, arm out, lift deployed. Installs are planned around routes, usually at the bus lot after the afternoon run or on teacher workdays.
We meter every signal before we use it, so the tracker records the equipment actually working, not a switch that was only requested. Power connections are fused, wiring is secured away from heat and moving parts, and each input is tested with the equipment running before the truck goes back out. Wire colors for the truck side are in our Vehicle Wiring Database. See all the equipment we monitor for the other trucks and equipment we wire in.
Districts run many of these platforms, and we wire them all. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
