Drivers passing a stopped school bus put children at real risk. Stop arm cameras record those vehicles while the stop arm is out. We install stop arm cameras and wire stop arm status into GPS tracking for school districts and contractors across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A stop arm camera is mounted on the side of the bus, often near or on the stop arm, aimed back along the traffic lanes. When the stop arm extends, the system records vehicles passing the bus, including license plates where the camera supports it. Footage is stored on the bus recorder and, on many systems, uploaded with the bus's location and time.
Cameras need a clear view across several lanes in sun, rain and darkness, so placement, angle and lighting are tested on the bus before it returns to service.
Wire references are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Stop arm violations are a known danger at school bus stops. Video gives districts evidence to share with law enforcement and helps identify dangerous stops where routes should change. Some states allow automated enforcement using stop arm camera footage and others do not, and the rules differ, so districts should check their state's law before relying on footage for citations.
Stop arm cameras work best with warning light monitoring and interior cameras. See our school bus tracking page.
Public school districts, school bus contractors and transportation cooperatives, often working with local law enforcement on stop arm safety programs.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
