A police dog left in a hot vehicle can be in danger within minutes. K9 heat alarm systems watch the temperature and react, and wiring the alarm into the GPS tracker adds one more alert that reaches supervisors wherever they are. We install K9 alarm monitoring for law enforcement agencies across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A K9 heat alarm system uses temperature sensors in the kennel area of the patrol vehicle. When the temperature passes a set limit, the system takes action: sounding the horn, flashing lights, rolling down windows, starting fans and, on many systems, paging the handler and popping a door so the dog can be released. Many systems also detect when the engine stalls with the dog inside. Most provide alarm outputs that can be read safely.
A K9 is both a partner and a significant investment for an agency. A second alert path, independent of the handler's pager, adds protection when the handler is busy on a call. Alarm records also help training units and supervisors spot equipment faults and practices that put dogs at risk.
Wire references are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
K9 units often also record emergency lights, gun lock releases and panic buttons. See our police and emergency vehicle tracking page.
