A fire engine's pump is its reason for being, and pump hours drive both reports and maintenance. We wire the pump engaged signal into the GPS tracker so every pumping operation is recorded, for paid, combination and volunteer fire departments across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

Most fire engines drive the fire pump from the truck engine through a pump transmission or split shaft. The driver shifts into pump gear from the cab, and an indicator confirms the pump is engaged. Some apparatus use a PTO driven pump, and portable or skid pumps on brush trucks have their own engines. The pump engaged indicator gives a clean signal for the tracker.
Brush trucks and tenders follow the same idea with their own pump signals, so a whole department's pumping apparatus can report on one platform.
Wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Fire pumps must be tested and maintained on schedule, and pump hours are part of that record. Departments also use incident data in their reporting, and a record of when the pump ran at each scene supports it alongside the incident report.
For departments with many apparatus, pump hours on one screen also help balance use across engines, so one engine does not wear out years ahead of the rest of the fleet.
Departments often add emergency lights, siren and shore power signals at the same time. See our emergency lights, siren and shore power monitoring pages, and our fire truck and ambulance tracking page.
Municipal fire departments, county fire districts, volunteer departments, industrial and airport fire brigades, and wildland agencies with engines and brush trucks.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
