Fire and EMS vehicles carry signals that matter to the station, not just their location. We wire the fire pump, the gurney and the shore power into the tracker, around the radios and lighting already in the truck.
Fleet installs from $65 per vehicle. Testing a few vehicles first? We do pilot installs too.
Each picture shows the part that gets wired into the tracker, circled in red. These are illustrations, not photos of customer trucks. The sections below explain how each one is monitored.
A fire pump is driven by a PTO or split shaft from the engine, and the apparatus has a pump engaged signal. Wired to the tracker, it records pump time at each call, which departments use for pump testing schedules and incident records.
Power load systems have a locked signal. Wired to the tracker, it shows when the gurney was locked in or released, alongside the unit's location.
At the station, ambulances and fire trucks stay plugged into shore power. Wiring the shore power signal into the tracker lets the platform alert if the truck starts moving while still plugged in, which is how cords and inlets get torn off.
Fire and EMS vehicles are packed with radios, lights, sirens, computers and chargers, many on circuits that stay live with the key off. We trace the upfit before we tap anything, keep our connections away from emergency circuits, and fuse the tracker on its own. Lights and siren can be recorded as well; see police and emergency vehicle tracking.
We meter every signal before we use it, so the tracker records the equipment actually working, not a switch that was only requested. Power connections are fused, wiring is secured away from heat and moving parts, and each input is tested with the equipment running before the truck goes back out. Wire colors for the truck side are in our Vehicle Wiring Database. See all the equipment we monitor for the other trucks and equipment we wire in.
Public safety fleets run on many of these platforms, and we wire them all. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
