A cable puller truck pulls power or communication cable through underground conduit, and pulling is the work that gets billed. We wire the puller into the GPS tracker so every pull is recorded with a time and place, for electrical, telecom and utility contractors across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A truck mounted cable puller uses a capstan or drum, driven by hydraulics from a PTO or by an auxiliary engine, to pull a rope that drags cable through conduit from one vault or handhole to the next. Many pullers have tension monitoring so the crew does not exceed the cable's pulling limit, and some record pull data on their own controller. A tracking install leaves all of that alone and adds a clean work signal for the platform.
Truck side wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Underground cable work is reported by location and length, and contractors bill utilities and owners on that basis. A record of each pull location and time supports those reports. It also helps scheduling, since pulls depend on crews and reels being in the right place at the right time.
Cable crews often run a puller truck, a reel trailer and a bucket or digger truck together. Each can carry its own tracker and signals, so supervisors see the whole crew on one map. Reel trailers are covered on our trailer GPS tracker page.
Electrical contractors, telecom and fiber contractors, electric utilities and municipal light departments. Other service equipment is on our service truck tracking page.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
