What the shop says

The Azuga shop lists an SD card for the AI dash cam, part number SURF-SD-128, at $49.99. It describes an industrial-grade 128GB card for video storage on the AI SafetyCam, supporting continuous recording and high-speed data transfer. The word industrial matters here, because Azuga's install guide for this camera calls its supported maximum an industrial card of 512GB.

Why this card gets its own page

The Plus and Pro use the ordinary SafetyCam cards. This camera has its own card, and its own on-screen steps. Azuga documents more about card trouble here than for any other camera, so this is the page to open when a unit says SD not mounted.

Format the card

  1. Park the vehicle, set the brake and turn the ignition on.
  2. On the camera, open Settings, then Format SD card.
  3. Wait for the format to finish and check that the camera reports the card as ready.

Reboot without touching the data

If the camera still reports the card as not mounted, remove the SD slot cover and press the pinhole Reset once. Azuga says that reboot does not touch the data on the card. Replace the cover afterward, and keep the cover screw, because the camera has a separate protective cover part for the SIM and SD slots.

What the status report means

What the report saysWhat Azuga says to do
SD not mounted or not recordingReboot the camera.
Not recording videoFormat the card or replace it.
Not testedThe camera has no network or the ignition is off.
No videos in the portalCheck the association, the install, that a trip happened in the past few days, and the status report.

When to replace instead of repair

If a format and a reboot do not fix it, replace the card. A card costs $49.99, and an hour of a technician's time costs more. Keep a spare in the truck, and keep the failed card aside so nobody puts it back in service.

Sizing

Azuga says the camera ships with a 128GB card and supports up to 512GB. Azuga has not published recording time for any size, so we do not state hours.

Where to go next

Questions we get

Can I use a Plus or Pro card here?

Azuga calls the supported card for this camera industrial and does not say other cards are approved. Use the AI camera card unless Azuga says otherwise.

Will a reboot erase my videos?

Azuga says pressing the pinhole Reset does not touch the data on the card. A format does erase it, so reboot first.

Is USB power a fix for a dead card?

No. Azuga says USB power is not supported on this camera, and power is a different problem from a card problem.
