What the shop says

The Azuga shop lists a 128GB SD card, part number SD-128GB, at $50. It calls it a high-grade card for video recording on SafetyCam devices with fast data transfer. It does not give a speed class, a brand or a recording time. A different 128GB card, SURF-SD-128, is listed separately for the earlier AI SafetyCam.

Where it fits

Azuga's dash cam page lists 128GB as the card for the SafetyCam Plus and 256GB for the Pro. A 128GB card works in a Pro only if Azuga allows it, and we did not find that stated. If you are unsure, buy the size Azuga lists for the model.

Why we keep spares

An SD card is the one part in a dash cam that is written to all day. When it fails, the camera stops recording, and no cellular signal fixes that. On the Plus and Pro, Azuga's light guide says a red light flashing every 15 seconds means no card was detected. That is the signal to reseat the card, then replace it.

  • Keep one spare card per fifteen or so cameras you maintain. That is a rule of thumb, not Azuga's.
  • Mark spares with a pen so they are not mixed with cards taken out of vehicles.
  • Never put a card back into the spare box until you have checked it.

A clean swap

  1. Park, turn the ignition off and wait for the camera to settle.
  2. Remove the failed card and note the vehicle on the card.
  3. Insert the new card fully until it seats.
  4. Start the vehicle and look at the light. Azuga says a red flash every 15 seconds means no card detected.
  5. Check the portal for a new event or live view before you leave.

Recording time

Azuga has not published how many hours of video a card of this size holds, or at what resolution. We will not guess. Ask Azuga if a customer needs a number in writing.

Questions we get

Is this the card the Plus ships with?

Azuga lists 128GB for the Plus, but we do not know what card ships in the box. Ask Azuga before you count on a spare coming with the camera.

Can I use an ordinary card from a store?

Azuga calls its card high-grade and describes the earlier AI SafetyCam card as industrial. We did not find an approved list for the Plus or Pro, so ask before you substitute.

How do I know the card failed?

On the Plus and Pro, a red light flashing every 15 seconds means no card was detected. Reseat it first, then replace it.
