Azuga Temperature Sensor Probe

The probe is the sensor itself. Here is what Azuga says about it, what it leaves out, and how we would place and test one before a customer trusts the reading.

What it is

This is the temperature sensor probe in the Azuga shop, part number HTS-014, listed at $24.99. The shop says it is for temperature monitoring and data collection on temperature-sensitive assets. It gives no connector type, no measurement range, no accuracy figure and no list of compatible trackers. We stay with what the shop says and mark everything else as a question for Azuga.

Where it connects

Azuga's GV620MG install guide names four wires on the 18 pin harness, and the grey wire on pin 9 is the 1-Wire temperature sensor input. Azuga's tech spec for that tracker says it supports 1-wire with up to eight sensors. The shop page for the probe does not say it plugs into that wire. We are joining two Azuga pages ourselves, so confirm the match with Azuga before you promise a customer anything.

There is also a caution on the older GV600 family. Azuga says only the red and black wires are supported for installation there, and for any other wire you should contact Azuga. A probe needs one of those other wires.

Where we place a probe

These are our own habits from the field, not Azuga rules.

  • Measure what the customer cares about. Air near the load and the product itself are different readings. Ask which one matters before you fix anything in place.
  • Keep it out of the direct blast. A probe sitting in the outlet of a cooling unit or heater will read that outlet, not the space.
  • Stay away from the door. A probe by the opening reads every delivery stop, not the load.
  • Secure the cable. Clip it so it cannot be pinched, rubbed or pulled when the load shifts.
  • Write down where it went. One line on the install sheet saves a call six months later.

Proving it before we leave

  1. Mount the probe and connect it as Azuga directs for the tracker.
  2. Wait for a temperature reading to show in the Azuga portal. Azuga does not publish how often it reports, so give it time before you decide something is wrong.
  3. Compare the portal reading with a thermometer the customer already trusts, in the same spot.
  4. For a quick check, hold the probe in a cup of ice water and see that the reading drops near freezing. Azuga has not published an accuracy figure, so treat this as a sanity check, not a calibration.

Questions to ask Azuga before you sell it

QuestionWhy it matters
What range and accuracy does the probe have?A reefer load and a chemical tank need very different answers.
How often is a temperature reported? It decides how fast an alert can arrive.
What alerts and reports does the portal give?A reading with no alert is only half the sale.
Can one tracker show several probes by name?Multi-zone trailers need this.

Where to go next

Questions we get

Is the probe the same as the bridge cable?

No. The probe is the sensor, HTS-014 at $24.99. The bridge cable, HTC-007, is a 9 foot cable listed at $9.99 whose exact job the shop does not explain.

Will it work on my older GV600?

The shop has a separate GV600 temperature cable. Azuga also says only red and black wires are supported on the GV600 family, so ask Azuga before you sell temperature on that tracker.

Can we calibrate it ourselves?

Azuga has not published a calibration method for this probe. Do not promise a calibrated reading unless Azuga puts it in writing.
