The 18 foot extension is for long runs. It costs the same as the shorter one, so the real question is how much cable you can route cleanly, not what it costs.

The Azuga shop lists this as an extension cable for a temperature sensor in an 18 foot length, part number HTC-008-18, at $9.99. It says the cable extends the reach of temperature sensors and passes data reliably. Connector types and compatible devices are not listed.
Every connector is a place where moisture, vibration and a bad crimp can cause trouble. Two 9 foot cables joined together have one more connection than a single 18 foot cable. Connectors tend to fail before wire does. That is our field view, not an Azuga statement, but it is a good reason to choose the single longer part when the run needs it.
If your measurement is under about 9 feet, the shorter cable is easier to keep tidy. Extra cable has to go somewhere, and a coil of slack behind a panel can rub through over time.
Azuga does not state a maximum total cable length for a temperature sensor. If a job needs more than 18 feet, ask Azuga in writing what the supported maximum is and keep the answer. A long run can look fine on the bench and misbehave in a trailer, so test the reading in place.
After the cable is routed and clipped, wait for a reading in the portal, then compare it with a trusted thermometer in the same spot. If the number disagrees by more than the customer would accept, check each connector before blaming the sensor.
No. As of 2026-10-21 the shop listed both extension lengths at $9.99. Choose by the route, not the price.
We would not. Azuga does not publish the wiring and a cut cable cannot be trusted. Fold the extra length into a loose, tied loop instead.
Ask Azuga for the supported maximum length in writing. Do not chain cables without an answer.
