This cable carries the three wires the hardwired tracker needs, and adds a diode. Here is what each wire should read and the mistakes we guard against.

This is the 3 wire hardwire extension cable with a diode, 900 mm long, about 3 feet. The shop says the diode protects against reverse polarity. Red is constant 12 V, white is ignition 12 V that is on when the ignition is on, and black is ground. The price was $9.99 and the stock showed available on 2026-10-21.
| Wire | Job | Expected reading |
|---|---|---|
| Red | Constant power | 12 V all the time |
| White | Ignition sense | 12 V with ignition on, 0 V with it off |
| Black | Ground | 0 V, solid connection to bare metal |
These readings come from Azuga's 3 wire guide. Meter the circuits before you connect the extension and again at the tracker end after. A circuit you have not measured is a guess.
Constant power and ground are easy to get right, because they are always there. The ignition circuit is the one that has to switch, and the wrong tap looks fine until you test it. A tap that stays live after the key is off tells the tracker the engine is running when it is not. Azuga does not state this, and it is general field experience of what goes wrong. The cure is the same every time. Meter it with the key on and off.
A diode lets current flow one way. The shop says this one guards against reverse polarity, which is what you get if power and ground are swapped. Azuga does not say where the diode sits in the cable or which wire it covers. As a general matter, a diode in a power line drops a little voltage, so we meter the red wire at the tracker end and not only at the source.
Azuga documents no other states in the guide we read. ServiceTitan's Fleet Pro version says the green light flashes for five seconds, so the wording differs and we have not verified which is literal.
Match the cable to the tracker. The 3 wire tracker also reads ignition, so it needs the cable with three wires. The 2 wire extension carries only red and black.
Azuga limits its hardwired trackers to sources no higher than 24 volts DC and does not rate this cable. We confirm with Azuga for a 24 volt install.
That circuit is not switched. Move the tap to one that is only live with the ignition on, then test again.
