In an ambulance, the moment the cot is loaded and locked into its mount marks a key point in every call. We wire cot mount signals, where the system provides them, into GPS trackers for EMS agencies and private ambulance services across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

Modern ambulances often have a cot fastening system on the floor that latches the cot in place. Some powered loading systems also lift the cot into the patient compartment. Many of these systems have status outputs or indicators that show when a cot is latched. Where the system offers a usable, isolated output, it can be wired into the tracker as a loaded and secured signal. Where it does not, we discuss other options rather than tapping the system.
Chassis wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
EMS agencies track times through every call: arrival on scene, patient loaded, departure, arrival at hospital. Many of those times are entered by crews. A sensor-based record of when the cot was secured and the doors closed gives supervisors an independent check and helps with quality reviews.
Over time, those records also show patterns: which hospitals have the longest turnaround, which stations take longest to load and leave, and where extra units or changes to procedure would help most.
Ambulances often add emergency light and siren signals, door sensors and shore power alerts in the same install. See our emergency lights, siren and shore power pages, and fire truck and ambulance tracking.
Municipal EMS agencies, fire based EMS, hospital ambulance services and private ambulance companies.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
