A rig welder or field welding truck is a business on wheels, and the welder's hours are what pay for it. We wire engine driven welders into the GPS tracker so arc time and job sites are on record, for pipeline, oilfield, fabrication and field repair welders across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

Most welding trucks carry an engine driven welder: a gas or diesel engine turning a generator that supplies welding current and often auxiliary AC power for grinders and lights. A few setups use PTO or hydraulic driven welders, or inverter welders powered from the truck. The welder engine has its own key switch and battery, separate from the truck.
Truck side wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Pipeline and rig welders are often billed by the hour, and customers want proof. A record of when the welder ran at each location, alongside the truck's arrival and departure, backs up the ticket. For welding contractors with several trucks, it shows which rigs work the most hours and which sit.
Welder engines need oil and service by hours, often on a tighter schedule than the truck. Tracking puts both on one screen.
Some shops move skid welders from truck to truck as jobs change. A battery tracker on the welder keeps its location history no matter which truck carries it, and a hardwired tracker on the truck covers the vehicle.
Pipeline welding contractors, oilfield service companies, structural and fabrication shops, farm and heavy equipment repair businesses and mobile welders. Other service body equipment is on our service truck tracking page.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
