A water truck on a construction site, haul road or mine is often working to meet a dust control requirement. We wire the pump and spray valves into the GPS tracker so the platform records where water went down and when, for contractors, aggregate producers and municipalities across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A water truck carries a tank, a pump and a set of spray heads, usually front and rear spray bars, side sprays and sometimes a water cannon. The pump is driven by a PTO from the truck transmission, by a hydraulic system, or on some trucks by a separate engine. The driver opens and closes the spray valves from the cab, often one bar at a time.
That means the truck can be running with the pump on and no water going down, or spraying from one bar and not the others. Monitoring can capture both the pump and the valves.
Truck side wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Many construction and industrial sites operate under dust control plans, and some local rules require them. A dated, located record of when and where the water truck sprayed is a simple way to show the plan was followed if a complaint or inspection comes up.
It also helps run the truck. Owners can see how much of the day was spent spraying, filling or waiting, plan routes so roads are treated before traffic picks up, and service the pump by hours of use.
Site work and paving contractors, landfill and quarry operators, mining companies, municipal street departments and rental fleets that supply water trucks to job sites. For haul roads at quarries, it pairs well with tracking on the loaders; see our wheel loader GPS tracking page.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
