A generator on a service truck powers lights, tools, chargers and equipment where there is no outlet. We wire the generator into the GPS tracker so every hour it runs is counted and every job site is recorded, for service, utility, emergency and mobile business fleets across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

Some truck generators have their own gas or diesel engine and run independently of the truck. Others are driven by the truck's engine through a PTO or a hydraulic motor, and some are belt driven alternator style units under the hood. Inverter systems that draw on a truck's battery bank are also common on vans and smaller trucks. Each type gives a different signal to monitor.
Truck side wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Generators are serviced by hours, and they run long hours on job sites while the truck does not move. Without tracking, service gets missed. With it, every generator in the fleet has its hours on one screen.
For trucks that drive a generator from the main engine, idle time looks terrible on a plain report even when the truck is working. Wiring the generator signal in fixes the report and stops drivers being blamed for running equipment the job needs.
Utility restoration crews running lights at night, mobile mechanics and tire services, film and event production trucks, fire and rescue lighting units, and food trucks all rely on generators. In each case, generator hours and locations tell the owner how hard the equipment is working and when it is due for service.
We install generator monitoring alongside the GPS tracker on any brand of platform. Other service body equipment is covered on our service truck tracking page.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
