Before new lines go down, old ones often have to come off. Stripe removal trucks blast markings off the pavement with ultra high pressure water. We wire the pump and blasting head into the GPS tracker so every removal pass is mapped, for pavement marking contractors and highway crews across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A waterblasting stripe removal truck uses a very high pressure pump, usually driven by its own diesel engine, to send water to a rotating head held just above the pavement. The jets cut paint, thermoplastic and tape off the road surface while a vacuum system recovers the water and debris into a tank on the truck. Some crews use grinders or shot blasters instead, but the tracking idea is the same: record when the removal head is working.
Chassis wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Removal is usually paid by the length of line removed, and highway agencies need records of where it was done, especially in work zones where old markings could confuse drivers. A map of head-down segments with times supports quantity sheets and shows the next crew where to start.
Ultra high pressure pumps have demanding maintenance schedules. Tracking pump engine hours on the same platform as the truck puts that service on one screen.
In work zones, timing matters as much as location. Removal often happens the same night new lines go down, and a shared map lets the striping crew see exactly where removal is finished so the two trucks do not wait on each other.
Pavement marking contractors, highway work zone contractors and state and county road departments. Striping itself is covered on our line striping truck monitoring page.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
