A striping truck is paid for lines on the road, and the record of where paint went down is the job. We wire the paint guns and pump into the GPS tracker so every striping run is mapped with a time and place, for pavement marking contractors and highway departments across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A road striping truck, also called a line striper or pavement marking truck, carries paint tanks, pumps and a set of spray guns on a carriage that can be positioned over the lane. An operator turns individual guns on and off to lay solid lines, skip lines and edge lines, while glass beads drop into the wet paint for reflectivity. The pumps and air systems are powered by the truck's hydraulics, a compressor or a separate engine, depending on the build.
Some trucks lay heated thermoplastic instead of paint, from a heated kettle. The tracking idea is the same: record when material is going down.
Truck side wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Striping contracts are usually paid by the length of line installed, and highway agencies often want proof of where and when work happened. A map of gun-on segments, with times, backs up the quantities on the invoice and helps crews pick up where they left off the next night.
Speed matters too. Agencies set requirements for line thickness and bead coverage, and those depend on how fast the truck travels while spraying. Tracked speed during gun-on time gives supervisors a way to check it.
Pavement marking contractors, state and county highway departments, city street departments and parking lot striping companies. Other road crew equipment is covered on our street sweeper and road crew tracking page.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
Common questions
Yes. With the gun circuits wired into the tracker, gun-on segments show on the map with times.
Where the truck provides separate signals and the tracker has enough inputs, yes.
Yes. The application signal is taken from the thermoplastic system instead of a paint gun.
