A rotator is the most expensive truck in a towing fleet, and heavy recovery is billed by the hour. We wire the PTO, outriggers, boom and winches into the GPS tracker so every recovery has a clear record of what the truck did and when, for heavy towing and recovery companies across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A rotator wrecker carries a boom that can rotate, often a full circle, on top of the truck. With its outriggers down, it can lift and swing a load from the side or behind, which lets it upright an overturned truck or lift a load over a guardrail without blocking every lane. Heavy wreckers without a rotating boom do much of the same work from behind the truck.
All of it runs on hydraulics from a PTO on the truck transmission: the boom, the outriggers, the winches and the underlift. When the PTO is engaged, the recovery equipment can work.
Truck side wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Heavy recovery invoices are large and often questioned by insurers and motor carriers. A record showing when the rotator arrived, when it set its outriggers, how long its hydraulics worked and when it left is strong support for the bill.
It also protects the truck and the crew. An alert for driving with the boom up or outriggers out can prevent a costly strike, and tracked hydraulic hours keep pumps, cylinders and winch cables serviced on time.
Heavy towing and recovery companies, police rotation list operators and fleets that run their own recovery trucks. Lighter tow trucks are covered on our tow truck tracking and rollback monitoring pages.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
