PTO and equipment monitoring

Mobile Shredder Monitoring

A mobile shredding truck destroys documents at the customer's door, and customers want proof it happened. We wire the shredder into the GPS tracker so every shred is recorded with a time and place, for document destruction companies across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

How does a mobile shredding truck work?

Illustration, not a customer photo.

A mobile shredding truck carries an industrial shredder in its body. Bins of paper are lifted by a hydraulic tipper into the shredder, and the shredded material is stored in the truck's box. The shredder and lift are driven by hydraulics, usually from a PTO, and some trucks use a separate generator or engine. Many trucks also have cameras so customers can watch the shred.

What can be monitored?

Truck side wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.

Why does it matter?

Document destruction customers often need a certificate of destruction for their own compliance records. A tracker record showing the truck at their address with the shredder running supports that certificate with independent time and location data. It also helps answer the occasional customer question about whether the truck came and how long it stayed.

Shredder cutters and hydraulics wear by use, so tracked hours and lift counts help schedule blade sharpening and replacement.

What goes wrong?

What about grinders and mobile shredders for other materials?

Tub grinders, horizontal grinders and mobile shredders for wood, tires and yard waste work on similar principles, usually with their own large engines. They are tracked through the engine run signal and location. See tree service and logging tracking for chippers and grinders used in tree work.

Who uses it?

National and regional document destruction companies, records management firms, and municipal and university fleets that shred on site.

Where can I see other PTO and equipment monitoring?
