Tree Chipper & Logging Truck Tracking: Hours and Theft Alerts

Chippers are expensive, easy to hitch up and serviced by hours. We wire chippers, shredders and log loaders into the tracker, so tree service and forestry fleets see hours, job time and theft alerts.

Fleet installs from $65 per vehicle. Testing a few vehicles first? We do pilot installs too.

What do we monitor on tree service and logging?

Each picture shows the part that gets wired into the tracker, circled in red. These are illustrations, not photos of customer trucks. The sections below explain how each one is monitored.

How is a tree chipper tracked?

A towable chipper has its own engine and battery. A tracker hardwired to it records run hours from the engine and alerts if the chipper moves after hours. Tree services use it for blade and engine service and for job costing.

Can a mobile shredder be monitored?

Yes. The shredder's PTO or engine run signal records shredding time at each stop, which document destruction and brush companies use for billing.

What is tracked on a log loader truck?

A truck-mounted log loader runs from the PTO. The PTO signal shows loading time at each landing, and the truck's location shows the haul.

How is equipment with no truck attached tracked?

A towable chipper spends nights at job sites and in yards with no truck hooked to it. Hardwired to the chipper's own battery, the tracker keeps reporting on its own and is set up so it does not drain that battery while the machine sits. For attachments and tools with no battery at all, see Bluetooth asset tags.

What should a tree service tell us before the job?

What does the office see once it is wired in?

How do we wire and test it?

We meter every signal before we use it, so the tracker records the equipment actually working, not a switch that was only requested. Power connections are fused, wiring is secured away from heat and moving parts, and each input is tested with the equipment running before the truck goes back out. Wire colors for the truck side are in our Vehicle Wiring Database. See all the equipment we monitor for the other trucks and equipment we wire in.

Which GPS tracking brands do we install?

Every major tracking platform can track chippers and loaders, and we wire them into all of them. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
