A knuckle boom loader folds up behind the cab and unfolds to lift pallets, scrap, logs or debris onto and off the truck. We wire the loader into the GPS tracker so each delivery or pickup shows with a time and place, for building supply, scrap, logging and debris fleets across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A knuckle boom is a hydraulic crane with a hinge, or knuckle, in the middle of the boom, so it folds compactly behind the cab or at the rear of the bed. Building supply trucks use it to set pallets of block and shingles on roofs and job sites. Scrap and log trucks fit it with a grapple. It runs on hydraulics from a PTO on the truck.
Wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
For building supply yards, a record of each boom delivery helps answer the common question of whether the material was set where the customer asked. For scrap and log haulers, it shows each pickup. Loader hours also drive service of the slewing ring, cylinders and hoses.
Full crane truck coverage is on our crane truck tracking page.
Lumber and building supply yards, roofing supply distributors, block and brick dealers, scrap metal haulers, log trucks, storm debris contractors and municipal public works departments. A building supply yard may run a dozen boom trucks a day to job sites across a metro area, each setting several loads.
With loader activity on the map, dispatchers can see which truck is unloading and which is on the way to the next stop, and customer service can answer the call that asks whether the shingles were set on the roof or on the driveway. Owners also get loader hours for each truck, which keeps hydraulic service on schedule and helps decide when a crane is due for overhaul.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
