A crane truck earns its money while the crane is working, and that is exactly the time a standard tracker does not show. We wire the crane's PTO, the outriggers and the boom rest into the tracker on crane, building supply and delivery trucks, so the office sees each lift and each setup.
Fleet installs from $65 per vehicle. Testing a few vehicles first? We do pilot installs too.
Each picture shows the part that gets wired into the tracker, circled in red. These are illustrations, not photos of customer trucks. The sections below explain how each one is monitored.
Most truck-mounted cranes are powered by a PTO driven hydraulic pump. The PTO engaged signal gives crane hours, which matter for inspections and service intervals that run on hours of use. Logged with location, the same signal shows how long the truck spent lifting at each job, which is the number a job costing system needs.
Lumber, block and building supply trucks use a knuckle boom to unload at the customer's site. With the loader's PTO or hydraulic signal wired in, the platform shows each unload, stop by stop, and how long it took. Dispatch can see a delivery was completed without calling the driver.
Yes. Outriggers usually have a stowed switch, and some cranes have an interlock that already knows the outrigger position. Wired to a tracker input, the platform records when outriggers were set and alerts if the truck moves before they are stowed. That alert is the reason most fleets ask for it.
A grapple truck is a knuckle boom with a grapple, used for brush, debris and logs. It is monitored the same way, from the PTO, plus a boom stowed switch. See our grapple truck monitoring page for the details.
We meter every signal before we use it, so the tracker records the equipment actually working, not a switch that was only requested. Power connections are fused, wiring is secured away from heat and moving parts, and each input is tested with the equipment running before the truck goes back out. Wire colors for the truck side are in our Vehicle Wiring Database. See all the equipment we monitor for the other trucks and equipment we wire in.
Every major tracking platform can record crane and outrigger signals, and we wire them into all of them. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
