Ready mix has a clock on it, and the most useful thing to know is when the drum started pouring. We wire a drum rotation sensor and the PTO into your tracker so every load shows when it was mixing and when it was discharging. We do this across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A concrete mixer truck carries a rotating drum that keeps ready mix concrete moving between the plant and the job. The drum turns one way to mix and hold the load and the other way to discharge it down the chute.
The drum is driven by a hydraulic motor powered from the engine. A sensor that reads the drum direction tells the tracker whether the truck is mixing or pouring.
Wire colors for the chassis side are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Each delivery shows time at the plant, travel time, waiting time on site and pour time, so dispatch can see where trucks lose the most time. Producers use this to answer customer questions about late or slow pours and to plan drum and hydraulic service. The signals are simple on and off inputs, so they work with trackers that have auxiliary inputs. How the reports look depends on how your platform names and shows those inputs.
For the whole group, see our concrete truck tracking page.
Ready mix producers, precast and block plants with their own trucks, large site contractors and municipal fleets that batch their own concrete.
With pour times on every load, dispatch can space trucks better on big pours so the next truck is not waiting while the last one is still discharging.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
Common questions
Yes. A drum rotation sensor wired to the tracker shows when the drum switched from mixing to discharging.
No. Drum sensors read rotation from outside, so nothing is fixed to the moving drum shell.
