An asphalt distributor sprays tack coat, prime coat or emulsion across the road ahead of paving and chip seal crews. Recording when the spray bar is on shows exactly where material went down. We wire distributor trucks into GPS tracking for paving contractors and road departments across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A distributor truck carries an insulated, heated tank of liquid asphalt or emulsion, a pump, and a spray bar across the back with many nozzles. The operator sets the width and rate, often with a computer controlled system that adjusts flow to ground speed so the application rate stays even. The pump is driven by hydraulics or an auxiliary engine, and the tank is kept hot with burners.
Chassis wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Tack and seal coat work is often paid by quantity and inspected for coverage. A map of spray-on segments with times supports quantity sheets and helps crews coordinate the distributor with the paver or chip spreader. Owners can also see how much of the day each truck spent spraying, heating and traveling.
Paving contractors, chip seal and surface treatment crews, county road departments and state highway maintenance. Other road crew trucks are on our street sweeper and road crew tracking page.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
