A wing plow is a long side blade that swings out from the truck to clear a shoulder or a second lane in the same pass. We wire wing position into the GPS tracker so highway departments can see where the wing was deployed, across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.

A wing plow mounts on the side of a heavy plow truck, usually the right side, and is raised, lowered and pushed out by hydraulic cylinders. With the front plow and wing working together, one truck can clear a lane and the shoulder, or two lanes, in one pass. Wing plows run on the truck's central hydraulic system, driven by a PTO or engine mounted pump.
Chassis wire colors are in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
Wing plows are what keep shoulders, ramps and multi-lane roads open. A record of where the wing was deployed shows which shoulders and lanes were cleared, which helps highway departments report service levels and plan the next pass. It also shows where trucks are running without the wing on routes that need it.
Wing equipment takes hard hits from guardrails, mailboxes and snowbanks. Knowing how many hours each wing has worked helps plan blade, cutting edge and cylinder maintenance.
State departments of transportation, county road departments, larger cities and private contractors that maintain highways and large commercial sites. For the rest of the snow fleet see snow plow tracking.
This is one of the work truck and equipment applications we wire into GPS trackers. See all of them on our PTO and equipment monitoring page, and find wire colors for your truck in our Vehicle Wiring Database.
We wire PTO monitoring into trackers from all of these brands. Need heavy duty trackers for trucks or heavy equipment? Every brand below makes them, so pick yours and we install it.
