The HRN-XGS16K2-HD is Geotab's heavy-duty 16-pin OBD-II T-harness kit that links a GO10 or GO10 Plus to trucks and buses. It suits heavy vehicles whose diagnostic port is the 16-pin style rather than a round Deutsch connector.

The HRN-XGS16K2-HD is the Geotab harness kit that puts a GO10 or GO10 Plus on a truck or bus whose diagnostic socket is the 16-pin OBD-II type. Geotab ships it with the HRN-XBM16T2-HD T-harness and six mounting adapters. It is the heavy-vehicle counterpart to the light-duty GO10 kit, and the two are not interchangeable.
Many people assume every heavy truck has a round Deutsch port. Plenty of buses and trucks carry the rectangular 16-pin socket instead, often on 24 V electrics. That combination, a 16-pin port on a heavy vehicle, is exactly the job this kit was made for.
Geotab restricts this part to heavy-duty vehicles such as commercial trucks and buses. The vehicle connection is a 16-pin OBD-II core connector in the blue, 24 V compatible style, and the device end is a custom connector for the GO10 and GO10 Plus only. Geotab gives the power output as 8 V to 36 V with a 5 A rating, which covers both 12 V and 24 V heavy vehicles.
The adapter set leans toward heavy and European makes. Two flange styles, standard and extended, cover the North American Ford, GM and Chrysler port housings. MAN and DAF get their own slide and lock adapter, and a heavy-duty Volvo slide mount handles Volvo heavy trucks along with Scania and some MAN units. The remaining adapters are a lock style used on Mercedes, BMW and Iveco, a snap-in for Asian makes (Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and Honda, plus certain Ford and Iveco models), and the latch and snap design FIAT, Citroën and Peugeot use. The harness is 60 cm (23.6 in) long, and it replaces the HRN-GS16K2-HD.
Ordering by vehicle class rather than by port is where heavy-fleet installs go wrong. A transit bus or box truck with a 16-pin socket will physically accept a light-duty harness, yet a 24 V system is outside that part's rated output. This kit removes the guesswork: if the vehicle is heavy and the port is 16-pin, this is the GO10 harness.
It also keeps the cab tidy. Bus and truck dashes take abuse from drivers climbing in and out all day, and a device plugged directly into a low port gets kicked. With the T-harness, the GO10 rides on its own lead and gets tied up out of the way, while the original port stays open for a shop's diagnostic tool.
We start with the truck shut down, parked and secured, and we follow Geotab's GO10 instructions alongside the harness sheet. The core steps:
Geotab caps the total harness length at 2 m (6.5 ft) and forbids joining two T-harnesses, so any extension has to be a straight harness that keeps the run under that figure. Every lead gets tied off away from the pedals and controls. Before the bus goes back into service, we verify the GO10 is talking to MyGeotab or MyInstall and pulling engine data.

Confirm the port shape before ordering: a rectangular 16-pin socket points here, a round connector does not. Where a heavy vehicle needs Geotab's Ethernet bypass on pins 3 and 11, the fix is disconnecting the 4-pin Molex connectors labelled C3 and C5 on the HRN-XBM16T2-HD, and Geotab keeps the list of affected vehicles in a separate guide that we check per unit. Trucks see vibration and wash-downs, so we keep the GO10 dry, clear of debris and tied tight enough that it cannot rattle against metal. A dash light, a stall or a loss of power after the install means the device comes out and our technicians track down the cause.
The heavy-duty kit uses a blue 24 V compatible core connector and carries a wider power rating of 8 to 36 V. The light-duty kit has a red 12 V connector and is meant only for cars, vans and pickups.
No. This kit is for 16-pin OBD-II style ports. A truck with a round 9-pin Deutsch diagnostic connector takes the HRN-XGS09K2 for a GO10.
It took over from the HRN-GS16K2-HD, the older heavy-duty kit designed around pre-GO10 hardware, according to Geotab's harness guide.
