Geotab HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 Harness

The HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 is a Geotab fuse interrupter made for Micro2 fuses; it sits in a Micro2 position so the Geotab Relay Kit can interrupt that circuit for starter inhibit with no permanent wiring change.

What Is the HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2?

The HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 is a Micro2 fuse interrupter harness that works with the Geotab Relay Kit, giving the relay control of a Micro2-fused circuit for starter inhibit without cutting into the vehicle's wiring. According to Geotab, it fits where an existing Micro2 fuse sits and handles Micro2 fuses rated up to 30A.

Micro2 is one of the smallest blade fuse formats in current use. It has two narrow blades and a slim body, and it is packed tightly into many modern fuse panels. Because the body is so different from a Mini or ATC fuse, Geotab gives it a dedicated interrupter in its starter inhibit range.

Which Vehicles and Devices Does the HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 Work With?

Geotab defines the fit by fuse format. Any key-start, internal combustion vehicle where the start circuit we choose to interrupt runs through a Micro2 fuse of 30A or less is a candidate. The only companion product Geotab names in the harness listing is the Geotab Relay Kit.

The wider system, per Geotab's relay kit guide, is an IOX-OUTPUTM on the GO device's expansion port driving the relay, with the GO device itself on a T-harness at the diagnostic port. Geotab's relay kit document limits support to GO6 and newer devices. Geotab shows no replacement part, no prerequisite harness and no maximum connected cable length for this item; it is made in Taiwan.

What Problem Does It Solve on the Job?

On a vehicle whose start circuit is fused with a Micro2, the cut-wire alternative can mean digging behind trim or into the engine bay to find a cranking wire, then soldering and sealing the repair. A Micro2 interrupter keeps the work at the fuse panel, which shortens labour and leaves factory wiring untouched. That matters to fleets running leased units with return conditions, and to any operator who wants the inhibit removable when a vehicle is retired.

It also reduces the chance of a poor splice causing an intermittent no-start months later, a failure that is hard to diagnose once the installer has left.

How Is the HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 Installed?

Geotab hosts a dedicated install item for this part. We combine it with the steps in Geotab's relay kit guide:

  1. Secure the vehicle and disconnect the GO device, as Geotab's relay kit instructions specify.
  2. Find the circuit that controls cranking using wiring diagrams. Rule out multiplexed circuits and anything tied to fuel, brakes or engine running.
  3. Take out the Micro2 fuse at that position and seat the HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 in place of it, matching Geotab's description of the part replacing an existing Micro2 fuse.
  4. Join the interrupter to the relay kit, select the 12V or 24V relay to suit the vehicle, connect the fused ignition lead to a true ignition source, and complete the ground.
  5. Reconnect the GO device, fasten everything with cable ties, check it reports in MyGeotab, and finish the asset record in MyInstall.
  6. Prove the function: the engine must not crank while the relay is active and must crank once it releases, and the relay must never stall a running engine.

Geotab's diagnostic port harness rules still govern the GO device connection: 2 m (6.5 ft) total length maximum, and no T-harness connected to another T-harness.

What Should You Watch for When Fitting It?

Micro2 positions sit shoulder to shoulder, so it is easy to pull the neighbouring fuse by mistake. Count positions against the panel legend and photograph the panel before removing anything. Check that the interrupter and its leads do not stop the panel cover from seating, and route the leads so they are not crushed when it closes. Geotab warns its relay kit is not fail-safe and must never be put on a circuit that could stop the engine or affect safe control while moving, so the fuse choice has to be confirmed on a wiring diagram, not guessed from the legend alone.

Which Related Harnesses Should You Compare?

  • HRN-INTX2S1LPM: for Low-Profile Mini fuses, the shorter cousin of the Mini blade.
  • HRN-INTX2S1MINI: for the regular Mini blade fuse, same 30A ceiling.
  • HRN-SIFUSETAP: taps an existing fuse to power the starter inhibit relay, paired with a compatible interrupter.

What Are Common Questions About the HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2?

Is the HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 the same as the Mini fuse version?

No. Geotab sells a separate interrupter for each fuse body. The Micro2 part is for the narrow two-blade Micro2 fuse, while HRN-INTX2S1MINI is for the Mini blade fuse.

How much current can the HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2 handle?

Geotab lists it for Micro2 fuses up to 30A. We read the rating off the factory fuse before choosing the position.

Does the vehicle need to be key-start for this part?

Yes. Geotab's relay kit document says the relay kit cannot be used on push-button start vehicles, so this interrupter belongs on bladed-key vehicles.
