Geotab HRN-INTX2S1LPM Harness

The HRN-INTX2S1LPM is Geotab's Low-Profile Mini fuse interrupter, a short harness that takes the place of an LP Mini fuse so the Geotab Relay Kit can control that circuit for starter inhibit.

What Is the HRN-INTX2S1LPM?

The HRN-INTX2S1LPM is a fuse interrupter harness for Low-Profile Mini (LP Mini) blade fuses, used with the Geotab Relay Kit to add starter inhibit by tapping a circuit the vehicle already fuses. Geotab positions it as a no-modification install: it goes where an existing LP Mini fuse sits rather than into a cut wire.

A Low-Profile Mini fuse has a shorter body than a regular Mini and sits close to the face of the fuse panel. Geotab lists a dedicated interrupter for it, separate from its Mini part, and caps this one at 30A.

Which Vehicles and Devices Does the HRN-INTX2S1LPM Work With?

Compatibility is defined by fuse type, not by make or model. Geotab's harness list names the Geotab Relay Kit as its partner and starter inhibit as the job; it does not publish a vehicle list. Practically, it suits any internal combustion vehicle with a bladed key where the start-related circuit you have chosen is protected by an LP Mini fuse of 30A or less.

Geotab's relay kit guide pairs the relay with an IOX-OUTPUTM on a GO device's expansion port, and its relay kit document notes support only with GO6 or newer telematics devices. Push-button start vehicles are excluded. Geotab lists no superseded part, no required companion harness and no connected cable length limit for this interrupter, and shows Taiwan as the country of origin.

What Problem Does It Solve on the Job?

Fleets ask for starter inhibit to stop unauthorized use: a truck that should not leave the yard after hours, or one that should only start for a driver who has identified themselves. The traditional route is to cut the cranking wire. On vehicles with tightly packed panels, an LP Mini interrupter gives a cleaner path into the circuit and leaves nothing spliced behind if the vehicle is later returned or sold.

It also speeds up repeat installs across a run of identical vehicles. Once we have confirmed the right fuse position on the first unit with a wiring diagram and the test sequence, the rest of the batch follows the same plan.

How Is the HRN-INTX2S1LPM Installed?

Geotab publishes a dedicated install item for this harness in its install guide library. Our technicians follow it alongside Geotab's relay kit guide, which sets out the wider steps:

  1. With the vehicle parked and stationary, disconnect the GO device before starting relay work.
  2. Check wiring diagrams to identify the circuit that controls cranking, confirm it is not multiplexed, and confirm it cannot shut the engine down while driving.
  3. Remove the LP Mini fuse from that position and install the HRN-INTX2S1LPM where it sat, as Geotab's listing describes the part replacing an existing LP Mini fuse.
  4. Connect the interrupter leads to the relay kit, choose the relay that matches the vehicle's voltage, run a fused ignition feed, and ground the module.
  5. Plug the GO device back in, tie down the device and every harness, and confirm it reports in MyGeotab before closing the record in MyInstall.
  6. Test it: no crank with the relay active, normal crank with it released, and no stall if it activates while running.

On the GO device connection, Geotab's limits are unchanged: keep the total harness length at or under 2 m (6.5 ft), never connect one T-harness to another, and use cable ties on the device.

What Should You Watch for When Fitting It?

LP Mini fuses are short and sit low, so they are easy to misidentify as standard Minis from above. Pull the fuse and look at it in hand. Read the amp value too; anything over 30A rules this part out. Geotab warns that its relay kit is not designed to be fail-safe, so never put the interrupter in a position that could kill the engine, fuel or another critical system on the move. Confirm the relay voltage printed on the relay matches the vehicle, and leave a note in the install record showing which fuse position was used so the next technician can find it.

Which Related Harnesses Should You Compare?

  • HRN-INTX2S1MINI: for the taller regular Mini fuse, also rated to 30A.
  • HRN-INTX2S1MICRO2: for the narrow two-blade Micro2 fuse used in newer compact panels.
  • HRN-INTX21ATC: the full-size ATC version, and the only interrupter Geotab rates to 40A.
  • SPR-RELAYKIT: Geotab's relay kit listing, with 12V and 24V relays and the relay harnesses.

What Are Common Questions About the HRN-INTX2S1LPM?

How do you tell a Low-Profile Mini fuse from a regular Mini fuse?

Both share a similar footprint, but the low-profile version has a much shorter body that sits close to the face of the fuse box. Pull the fuse and compare it before ordering, because Geotab sells a separate interrupter for each style.

What is the amp limit on the HRN-INTX2S1LPM?

Geotab rates it for Low-Profile Mini fuses up to 30A. A position fused above that needs a different solution, which we work out during the vehicle survey.

Will the HRN-INTX2S1LPM work in an electric or hybrid vehicle?

Geotab's relay kit starter inhibit guide is written for internal combustion vehicles and tells installers not to fit it to hybrids, plug-in hybrids, mild hybrids or battery-electric vehicles.
