The GO Focus shows its status with blue and red light patterns, and it gives one soft chime as it powers on with the vehicle. Below, each pattern plays, gets explained, and sits beside the install and spec details installers need.
The GO Focus reports on itself with a status light in two colors. Geotab lists five light states: three belong to a normal setup and two signal a fault. It also makes one sound, a soft chime as it powers on after the vehicle starts. Blue means activation is running or done; red means something failed. Tap any button below to see it and hear what it means.
🔊 The GO Focus uses lights and a chime. Turn your sound on.
Easy way to remember it: Flashing blue, hands off. Solid blue, success. Red, call for a fix.

Each button plays the pattern on the GO Focus above, says out loud what it means, and tells you what to do.
| Light | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Blue, flashing | Activation running, or a firmware upgrade | Hands off; don't touch, move or unplug the dash cam |
| Blue, solid for 15 seconds | Activation succeeded | Nothing; this is the result we want |
| Blue and red, flashing | Ready for calibration | Carry on with the next setup step |
| Red, flashing | LTE, IOX-CAN or Wi-Fi connection failure | Our technicians check the cable, the IOX link and coverage |
| Red, solid | Activation failed | Our technicians recheck the GO device and run activation again |
Those five rows are all Geotab publishes. It does not say whether blue and red come from one light or two, so our drawing shows them side by side for clarity only.
| Sound | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| One soft chime at key-on | The dash cam has power and is booting | Watch the light for the blue activation pattern |
| No chime when the vehicle starts | The normal power-on sound is missing | We check the cable at the GO device and the IOX extension |
Geotab documents no other GO Focus sounds. Setup beeps from a brand-new GO9 on the same day belong to the GO device.
After activation the GO Focus runs on its own. It wakes through the GO device at every start, measures following distance, and keeps road footage around events such as tailgating or a forward collision risk. Managers review those clips in MyGeotab beside the trip data. There is no continuous live stream, so the office works from saved events.
Drivers mostly leave it alone. Working wipers and washer fluid matter, because the lens only sees as well as the glass allows. A knocked bracket changes the aim, so drivers should tell the office rather than push it back by hand. Any red light is worth reporting the same day.
The GO Focus has no fuse taps or power harness of its own. One cable runs to the GO device, with the IOX extension behind it, carrying data and 12 V or 24 V power. So the harness that matters sits under the GO device, which must be a GO9 or newer. On a GO9 that is normally one of these T-harnesses:
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| View | Single road-facing lens, no cabin view |
| Status indicator | Blue and red light patterns (light count not published) |
| Sound | One chime at power-on |
| Interface | IOX, for data and 12 V or 24 V power |
| Compatible GO devices | GO9 and newer |
| Cellular | LTE Cat 1 (North American model on AT&T, Telus and T-Mobile) |
| Size and weight | 130.0 x 66.9 x 49.4 mm, 294 g, polycarbonate housing |
| Current at 12 V | 780 mA typical, 1300 mA peak; 10 mA maximum asleep |
| Operating temperature | -30 to +60 °C |
| Certifications | FCC, IC, ISED, PTCRB, CE, UKCA, RCM |
Hear the chime at key-on and wait for the full 15 seconds of solid blue; flashing blue still running means the job isn't done. From the driver's seat, confirm the unit blocks none of the road view and sits where the wipers clear. Tug the bracket to prove the adhesive and lock held. Under the dash, both sides of the T-harness get tied so vibration can't loosen it.
Flashing blue, hands off. Solid blue, success. Red, call for a fix. Flashing blue means activation or an upgrade is running, solid blue for 15 seconds means activation worked, and either red pattern means a connection or activation failure.
Geotab describes the chime as part of a normal power-on, so silence usually means power is not reaching the dash cam. Our technicians check the cable, the IOX extension and the GO device first.
No. Geotab lists GO9 and newer devices as compatible, so on a GO8 vehicle we swap the GO device in the same visit.
