Greer is the fastest-growing city in South Carolina. The Census Bureau put it at 50,007 residents in July 2025, up 7.3% in one year, and its 3,412 new residents were more than any other city in the state added, enough to rank 17th among the fastest-growing U.S. cities of 20,000 or more. The city also straddles a county line: of the 35,308 people counted in 2020, about 25,600 lived on the Greenville County side and about 9,700 on the Spartanburg County side.

That growth keeps the trades busy. At the start of 2021 the city had approved 17 new subdivisions and more than 1,100 home sites in a single year, roughly a tenth of new home growth in the Upstate. The fleets that follow those rooftops, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, pest control, pool service and couriers, are mostly businesses running 1 to 10 vehicles, and that is work we are glad to do. Construction crews are busy too, including on the 200,000-square-foot sports and events center that broke ground in August 2025 near SC 14 and South Buncombe Road.

On the industrial side, BMW's Plant Spartanburg sits in Greer on SC 101. In June 2024 BMW opened its first North American press shop there, a 219,000-square-foot building stamping up to 10,000 parts a day. Since 2022 a logistics center of nearly one million square feet on Freeman Farm Road has fed the line across two private bridges, one spanning I-85, and BMW of North America runs a 60,000-square-foot Vehicle Accessories Center on GSP Innovation Parkway that fits wheels, trim and roof accessories before vehicles go to dealers.

Around the plant are supplier and distribution buildings that run trucks of their own: Smith Farms Industrial Park, 475 acres at SC 101 and Reidville Road planned for about 6 million square feet; Sunland Logistics' 300,000-square-foot distribution center on Victor Hill Road, which includes shuttle transportation; DMA Industries' 1.4-million-square-foot automotive aftermarket center less than four miles from Inland Port Greer; and U.S. headquarters for Omron and Nifty Lift. Add the utility and excavation contractors working Greer CPW's service area and the mix is wide. Public fleets have their own page with us; this one is for businesses.

What We Install in Greer

Set up for Greer's trades, supplier parks and plant yards

We install every major platform and set it up around how your vehicles actually move in Greer, whether that is ten stops across new neighborhoods or forty short hops between two buildings.

GPS Fleet Tracking

Hardwired trackers on service vans and pickups working Greer's newest neighborhoods, on box trucks and tractors running short shuttle routes along SC 101, and on yard trucks inside plant fences, with engine hours logged wherever miles tell you nothing useful.

Dash & Backup Cameras

Road-facing and driver-facing cameras for crews driving US 29 and SC 14 through a construction season, plus rear and side cameras on dump trucks, service bodies and box trucks backing into cul-de-sacs, loading docks and dig sites, wired so recording starts with the ignition.

Telematics & Integrations

Samsara, Motive, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more, set up with geofences on your job sites, docks and gates, engine data read from heavy-duty diagnostic ports, and mixed fleets brought together on one account.

Greer-Specific Considerations

What makes fleet installs in Greer different?

Will GPS find job sites in brand-new Greer subdivisions?

Usually, but not always in the first months. When a city adds thousands of residents a year, new streets and house numbers often reach the map data behind telematics platforms later than the first homeowners do. The truck still shows its position correctly on the map. What fails is the address search: a dispatcher types a new street and gets nothing, or a stop gets logged against the nearest older road.

We handle that at setup. For businesses working active neighborhoods, we place geofences on subdivision entrances and on your regular job sites using coordinates rather than street addresses, so arrivals and departures log correctly from the first week. When you pick up work in a new neighborhood, adding its geofence takes a few minutes, and we show whoever runs your schedule how to do it before we leave.

Can you install on trucks that never leave a plant campus?

Yes. On and around BMW's Greer campus, parts move by yard tractor and hostler, and when the Freeman Farm Road logistics center opened in 2022, BMW showed a driverless hostler carrying parts across its private bridges to the plant. Yard trucks and hostlers can run all shift while adding very few miles, so a tracker set up the way it would be for a highway truck tells you almost nothing about them.

We configure those units to report engine hours and idle time, and set maintenance reminders on hours instead of miles. Plant and supplier yards also come with badging, escort and safety rules, so we plan the install with your site contact ahead of time: the right safety gear, approved work areas, and a number of vehicles per visit that fits around your shifts. Your vehicles stay inside the fence and we do the work there.

Our trucks only run a few miles between buildings. Is tracking worth it?

Yes, as long as it is set up for short trips. Greer's warehouse and supplier buildings sit close together along SC 101, Victor Hill Road and Brookshire Road, and a lot of local freight is shuttle work: a box truck or tractor making the same short hop between a warehouse and a customer dock many times in one shift. Those runs are where time disappears, at gates and docks rather than on the road.

Short trips are also where poor wiring shows up. If a tracker's ignition sense is tied to a circuit that stays live after the key is off, back-to-back runs merge into one long trip and your dock-to-dock times vanish. We connect ignition sensing to a true ignition source, confirm every key-on and key-off registers as its own trip before we leave, and set geofences on each building and gate you serve so the platform reports how long every stop really takes.

Can GPS show when our crew was on a dig site?

Yes, and around Greer that record gets used. Greer CPW provides electric, natural gas, water and wastewater service, and its gas system alone serves more than 33,650 customers through more than 790 miles of pipeline, reaching north to the North Carolina line near Landrum and south to Crescent near Woodruff. Contractors trenching, boring and tapping services across that area work under South Carolina's 811 law, which requires notice three to twelve full working days before most digging, and CPW's Maple Creek treatment plant is being expanded from 5 to 7.5 million gallons a day through late 2026.

Geofenced arrival and departure times give you a dated record of when a truck reached a site and how long it stayed, which helps when timing is questioned on a locate ticket or a damage claim. We pair that with rear and side cameras on dump trucks and service bodies, and we power trackers from the chassis battery, not the auxiliary battery that runs an inverter or crane, so the tracker keeps reporting even when the aux pack runs flat at the end of a long day.

Questions From Greer Fleet Managers

What do Greer public fleet managers ask us?

Do you install for a Greer business with only 1 to 10 vehicles?

Yes. A plumber in Greer with three vans gets the same technicians, the same wiring standard and the same testing as a supplier fleet with a hundred tractors. A fleet that size is usually done in one visit to your shop or home base, with every vehicle checked on the platform before we leave.

Which GPS and camera platforms do you install in Greer?

Samsara, Motive, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more. Many Greer operations belong to companies headquartered in other states or countries, so the platform is often picked at a head office far from the yard. We install whatever was chosen and set it up for how your Greer location actually runs.

Does it matter which side of the county line our yard is on?

No. Greer sits in both Greenville and Spartanburg counties, and so do the businesses in it. We come to your yard, shop or job site on either side, and to Taylors, Duncan, Lyman, Wellford and the rest of the area around the city.

Will the US 29 construction through Greer affect our vans?

Plan on it if you run Wade Hampton Boulevard every day. SCDOT's safety project from North Dill Avenue to Fleming Drive in Greer was set to begin construction in August 2026, with concrete medians in select areas that change where you can turn. Route history from your trackers shows how much longer stops take once work starts, and road-facing cameras give you footage if something happens in a work zone.

Can we add vehicles one at a time as we grow?

Yes. We come back for a single new van or truck when it arrives, fit it to the same wiring standard as the rest of your fleet, and it shows up on your existing account the same day, so growing a truck at a time never means a messy mix of installs.
