Install Types We Handle

Not every GPS tracker installs the same way, and the wrong install method is the #1 reason trackers drop offline, report bad ignition data, or get unplugged by drivers. We match the install to the vehicle and the job:

Install typeHow it worksBest for
Hardwired (3-wire)Constant power, ignition, and ground wired directly into the vehicle harness. Device hidden behind the dash, tamper-resistant.Fleet vehicles, theft-sensitive assets, accurate ignition/trip data
OBD-II plug-inPlugs into the diagnostic port. Fast install, easy to move between vehicles. We secure with relocation harnesses when drivers shouldn't unplug it.Cars & light-duty, short timelines, leased vehicles
Heavy-duty (9-pin / JBUS)Connects through the J1939/J1708 diagnostic connector on Class 6–8 trucks, with proper adapters and strain relief.Semis, dump trucks, buses, yellow iron
Battery / solar asset trackersNo vehicle power at all — mounted to trailers, containers, and equipment. See our wireless & passive tracking page.Trailers, generators, attachments

What a Professional Install Gets You

Fleet Rollouts, Not Just One-Offs

From a single work truck to 11,000+ vehicles across multiple yards, we build install schedules around your operation — early mornings, weekends, staged batches — so trucks keep earning while the fleet gets equipped. Most vehicles are back in service in under an hour.

Common questions

FAQ

How long does a GPS tracker installation take?

A typical hardwired install takes 30–60 minutes per vehicle. OBD plug-ins take minutes. Heavy-duty vehicles and multi-accessory installs take longer. For fleet rollouts we cycle vehicles so downtime stays minimal.

Will installing a GPS tracker void my vehicle warranty?

A professional install using proper harnesses and connections doesn't damage the vehicle. We don't cut factory harnesses or drill trim, and our work is documented — which is exactly what you want if a dealer ever asks questions.

Can the tracker be hidden from drivers?

Yes. Hidden, hardwired installs are our standard for fleet and theft-recovery use. We also install OBD relocation kits so plug-in devices aren't visible or easily unplugged.

Do you install trackers we purchased ourselves?

Yes. We're an independent installer — bring any brand of hardware and we'll install it correctly. We can also advise on install-friendly hardware if you haven't purchased yet.

Do you come to us?

Yes. Nearly all fleet work is done at your yard, terminal, or job site anywhere in Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina.
