The Contract Trap (Read This Before You Sign)

The most expensive mistake fleets make isn't the monthly rate — it's the term. Providers routinely offer "free" hardware in exchange for a 36-month agreement, then charge steep early-termination fees per vehicle if the platform doesn't work out.

Ask what happens if you leave. Early-termination fees running into the thousands are common and are the single most frequent complaint against large telematics providers.
Ask who owns the hardware. If they own it, you're renting — and you'll return it or buy it out.
Ask about per-vehicle add/remove. Some contracts make it easy to add trucks and painful to remove them.
