GPS & Camera Installer in Aiken, SC

Aiken runs on service trucks — contractor fleets, utility crews and plant logistics, most of them working out of a yard rather than an office. We install GPS trackers, cameras, PTO and auxiliary inputs, and Geotab telematics on site at your yard or jobsite. There is no shop to drive to and nothing leaves your property.

Aiken County's Fleet Economy

Who We Install For Around Aiken

The Savannah River Site is the defining employer in Aiken County, supporting more than 13,000 onsite workers on an annual operating budget north of $3.8 billion. API Signal does not work on the site itself and holds no clearance — but the contractor and supplier organisations built around it do run large mixed fleets, and those fleets park in ordinary yards across the county. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, Savannah River Mission Completion, Amentum, Quanta Services and Kiewit all draw supporting work into the area, and Quanta in particular is the kind of utility and infrastructure contractor that runs bucket trucks, digger derricks and crew cabs by the dozen.

Manufacturing is the other half of it. Bridgestone runs two plants between Graniteville and the Edgefield County line, one for off-road tires and one for passenger tires, with roughly 450 people on the off-road side alone. Kimberly-Clark and Medline add distribution and supply movement, and Aiken Regional Medical Center brings its own vehicle activity. None of that runs without trucks.

Geographically, Aiken sits about twenty minutes from Augusta, Georgia, which puts a great many local operators on both sides of the Savannah River in a normal week. If your fleet is plated in one state and working in the other, that is routine here rather than unusual.

So the vehicles we fit around Aiken are service trucks first: utility bodies, bucket and aerial units, crew cabs, flatbeds, dump bodies and pickups, plus the vans and box trucks that keep the plants supplied. These are not bare cargo vans, and they do not install like bare cargo vans.

Aiken-Specific Considerations

What's Different About Fleet Installs on Work Trucks

The body builder got there first

A utility truck reaches you after somebody has already been through its wiring — the body builder who fitted the bed, the crane, the outriggers or the aerial device. By the time a tracker goes in, the accessible circuits are often already spoken for, the cab is crowded, and there is a second electrical system in the vehicle that had nothing to do with the chassis manufacturer.

That is why a plain pickup and a bucket truck are hours apart for the same device. On the pickup it is a known dash and a known harness. On the bucket truck it is finding a circuit that behaves the way you need it to, on that specific build, without borrowing something the body needs.

A PTO input on the wrong circuit is worse than no input at all

This is the single most valuable thing on a utility fleet and the one most often got wrong. A PTO or boom input tells you the truck arrived, set up and did work — not just that it parked somewhere for two hours. Billing, utilisation and job costing all lean on it.

Wire that input to a work light instead of the actual PTO engagement and you get a perfectly consistent, completely wrong dataset. Nothing looks broken. The numbers arrive every day, they just describe something else. We have seen fleets run on that for a year before anyone noticed. Identifying the right circuit on the actual vehicle is most of the job, and it is the reason we do not quote a utility fleet the way we would quote a van fleet.

What it costs, and what actually moves the number

We would rather explain the number than publish a fake one, because any single per-vehicle price is either somebody's easiest possible job or an invention. Three things move it.

Two things worth checking in anyone's quote: whether removal of your old hardware is included, and whether parasitic draw is measured before and after with the delta recorded. That second one is the cheapest possible insurance against a battery argument six weeks later. Full detail in what fleet GPS installation actually costs, and there is more on work trucks specifically in why work trucks need a different install.

Two states, one working week

Aiken operators cross into Georgia constantly — Augusta is twenty minutes away and a good deal of the region's supply and contractor work sits on that side of the river. The install is identical either way and we work both sides as normal business. Our Augusta page covers the Georgia side, and Columbia covers the rest of the Midlands.

Trucks you cannot spare

Specialty units are the ones a contractor cannot take out of service, which is exactly why they end up last in the queue and never get fitted. The way round it is staging in batches and starting early rather than trying to catch individual trucks between jobs. With units staged and ready we install 40 to 50 vehicles in a day, we run early starts and off-peak windows, and we have done multi-hundred-unit rollouts across several yards on that pattern.

Every vehicle gets its own documentation — asset ID, serial number, VIN, install type, date, technician and photographs — which matters when a contract requires you to prove what is fitted to what. A certificate of insurance naming you is available on request. If you came to us through a reseller, we do not market to their customer and we leave no literature in the vehicle.

Questions From Aiken Fleet Managers

Aiken Fleet Installation FAQ

What does GPS tracker installation cost for an Aiken fleet?

Three things move the number. What you're fitting: a plug-in device takes minutes, a hardwired tracker with power, ground, ignition sense and a concealed harness is the standard for commercial work, and every auxiliary input after that is a separate circuit. What the vehicle is: a plain pickup is the cheapest thing we do, and it climbs with utility bodies, cranes, aerial devices and anything a body builder has already been through. And how many you can stage in one place: twenty units queued at one yard on one day costs dramatically less per unit than twenty spread across sites over three weeks. Tell us vehicle count, vehicle types, whether they can be staged, and whether old hardware needs removing, and you get a real quote instead of a generic one.

Do you install at our yard, or do we bring vehicles to you?

At your yard. There is no shop to drive to. We come to your yard, laydown area or jobsite and work on the vehicles where they already park, so nothing has to be driven off site and back.

Do you work on the Savannah River Site?

No. We work with contractor and supplier fleets in and around Aiken County. We hold no federal site access or clearance, and we would rather say that plainly than have you find out at a gate. If your vehicles are parked off site, that is where we install.

Can you fit PTO, boom and aerial device inputs?

Yes, and this is where most of the value sits on a utility fleet. A PTO or boom input has to be identified correctly on that specific vehicle. Wired to the wrong circuit it produces a perfectly consistent, completely wrong dataset, and fleets have run on bad data for a year without noticing. We identify the circuit on the vehicle rather than assuming it matches the last one.

We're switching providers. Can the old hardware come out at the same time?

Yes. Takeout and new install happen in one visit, so each vehicle comes out of service once instead of twice, and any wiring the previous installer left behind gets corrected while the panel is already open.

How soon can you be on site in Aiken?

Typically within a few business days of your hardware arriving. Aiken sits inside our core territory, twenty minutes from Augusta, so scheduling is straightforward rather than an outlying run.
