Orangeburg County is where I-26 and I-95 cross, and its commercial yards have grown up along both. Off I-26 at Exit 154, where US 301 meets the interstate, Shamrock Commerce Park holds the Pet Supplies Plus distribution center, the chain's fourth in the country, and the John W. Matthews Jr. Industrial Park holds an Amazon last-mile delivery station that opened in November 2025. Down I-95 at Santee and Vance, the 1,275-acre SC Gateway Logistics Park is served by CSX and already has a DP World distribution building with 34 dock doors. Those yards put tractors, box trucks and vans on the road every day.

Manufacturing runs just as deep. Allied Air builds heating and air conditioning equipment in Orangeburg and employs more than 700 South Carolinians. Zeus has made polymer tubing here since the early 1980s. Okonite makes high-voltage cable for utilities, solar and rail, and in September 2026 announced a new 552,000-square-foot plant on its Orangeburg site. Husqvarna lawn and garden products still come off the Old Elloree Road campus, now built by Flex under a long-term supply agreement since February 2025. Every one of those plants pulls in freight, suppliers, maintenance contractors and service vehicles, and that is a large share of the work we see here.

Then there is the farm economy. Orangeburg County ranked third in South Carolina for agricultural sales in the 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cotton, corn, soybeans and peanuts as the leading row crops and more than five million broilers on hand. Premium Peanut, a grower-owned sheller, built its shelling plant at Santee to take in the crop. Farm service pickups, grain and peanut haulers, ag equipment dealers and feed and fuel suppliers all run trucks that spend part of every day off pavement.

Most of the businesses we meet in Orangeburg run 1 to 10 vehicles: HVAC, electrical and plumbing contractors, landscapers, pest control, pool service, towing and couriers working the streets around South Carolina State and Claflin and out toward Santee and Holly Hill. They get the same technicians, the same install standard and the same one-visit approach as a distribution fleet with hundreds of units. City and county government fleets have their own page; this one is for private and commercial operators.

What We Install in Orangeburg

What we install on Orangeburg commercial vehicles

Every major platform, fitted on site by twelve-volt technicians who wire work trucks for a living.

GPS Fleet Tracking

Hardwired trackers on distribution tractors, box trucks and contractor pickups, plug-in units on rented or short-lease vehicles, and hardwired units on farm trucks too old to have a diagnostic port. Geofences drawn around your own yard and the sites you actually run to, from the Exit 154 parks to the plant construction on US 21.

Dash & Backup Cameras

Road-facing and driver-facing cameras for vehicles that run the I-26 and I-95 work zones every day. Backup and side cameras go on box trucks backing into dock doors and on service trucks squeezing into residential driveways across town.

Telematics & Integrations

Samsara, Motive, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more, with engine data, driver ID and auxiliary inputs wired where the vehicle calls for them. Every unit is powered up, checked against the platform and confirmed reporting before we leave your yard.

Orangeburg-Specific Considerations

What makes commercial fleet installs in Orangeburg different?

Does the I-26/I-95 interchange rebuild change how installs get scheduled?

Yes, and we plan around it rather than through it. SCDOT is rebuilding the system interchange where I-26 meets I-95 near Bowman, with new I-95 bridges over I-26, new ramps and overnight lane closures, and substantial completion is not scheduled until June 2027. Orangeburg's commercial yards sit in two clusters, one along I-26 around Exit 154 and US 301 and one along I-95 at Santee and Vance, and that interchange is the hinge between them.

So we group installs by corridor. One day covers your units on the I-26 side, another covers Santee and Vance, and no technician spends the start of your shift crossing a work zone. On platforms that support zone rules, we can also draw a geofence around the interchange so idling inside a lane closure is tagged as traffic rather than showing up as a driver problem.

Our crews are building one of the new plants. How do you handle rented and borrowed trucks?

We fit owned and rented units differently. Orangeburg County has several large plants going up at once: Ferrara Candy's 750,000-square-foot plant at US 21 and Rowesville Road, with first production lines planned for early 2029; the SODECIA AAPICO ladder-frame plant on St. Matthews Road, due to finish construction during 2027; and Okonite's new cable plant, a two to three year build. Contractor fleets on jobs like these grow and shrink with each phase, and a good share of the pickups and crew trucks are rentals.

Owned units get a hardwired tracker, fused and tucked so it lasts this job and the next one. Rentals get a plug-in unit at the diagnostic port that comes out clean when the truck goes back. We keep one written spec for both, so unit 3 and unit 30 report the same way, and we return in batches as your crew count climbs.

Do trucks that run farm lanes need a different install?

Yes. A grain truck, peanut hauler or farm service pickup in Orangeburg County can spend hours a day on dirt and field roads, and that vibration is what shakes a loose connector apart or turns camera footage into a blur. With cotton and corn each planted on more than 30,000 acres here and a grower-owned sheller at Santee, that describes a big part of the local vehicle mix.

We bolt devices to solid structure instead of letting them hang from a harness, use sealed splices and tie the harness back from anything that moves or gets hot. Trucks old enough to have no diagnostic port get a hardwired tracker on a fused constant and ignition feed. Cameras go inside the area the wiper actually clears, because field dust builds on glass fast.

We are launching a new operation here. When should the trackers go in?

Before the first route. Orangeburg is gaining whole new operations, not just extra trucks: SODECIA AAPICO will build vehicle frames for Scout Motors in Blythewood, Ferrara is building its first South Carolina plant, and both Premium Peanut and DP World have opened at Santee in recent years. Suppliers, carriers and service contractors follow each of those. A fleet that launches without tracking spends its first months without the data it needs to set routes and baselines.

We install on new units as they are delivered, before they go into service, so every vehicle starts with a device, a name that matches your unit number, and the right driver groups and alerts from day one. Give us your delivery dates and launch date and we work backward from them. If the vehicles arrive in waves, we come out in waves.

Questions From Orangeburg Fleet Managers

What do Orangeburg public fleet managers ask us?

Will you install for an Orangeburg business with only 1 to 10 vehicles?

Yes. Whether it is two HVAC vans working the neighborhoods near the colleges or eight landscaping trucks based out in Holly Hill, you get the same technicians and the same install standard as our largest fleets. In most cases every vehicle is finished in one visit to your yard or driveway, so nobody loses a workday.

Which tracking and camera platforms do you install in Orangeburg?

Samsara, Motive, Verizon Connect, Geotab, Lytx, Netradyne, Powerfleet, CalAmp and more. In the I-26 and I-95 parks it is common for a distribution operation to run one platform while the carriers and contractors serving it run another. We install both and set each one up so your yard, gate and dock geofences match.

Can you install at our yard in Santee or Vance?

Yes. We come to you anywhere in Orangeburg County, from the parks at Exit 154 to the I-95 parks at Santee and Vance and out to Elloree and Eutawville. All we need is room to open the doors and a few feet of space around each vehicle.

How soon can you start, and how many trucks get done in a day?

Scheduling typically runs three to five days out. One installer typically completes 15 to 20 basic GPS installs a day, and camera or multi-device work is planned per vehicle, so we tell you the day count before we start.

Can you add units to our account later without redoing the first ones?

Yes. We record how each vehicle was wired and named on the first visit, so trucks added months later on a plant job or a new route match the originals and show up in the same groups and reports.
