The SPR-NFCBRACKET is Geotab's replacement mounting bracket and holder for the IOX-NFCREADER, the dash-mounted reader drivers tap to identify themselves. It comes with two screws and double-sided tape.

The SPR-NFCBRACKET is a replacement mounting bracket and holder for Geotab's IOX-NFCREADER, the near-field reader drivers tap with a tag or card to log in to a vehicle. Geotab packages it with two screws and double-sided tape, and describes its role as giving installers a replacement bracket for the NFC reader.
The reader already ships with a bracket. This part exists for when that bracket is broken, lost during a vehicle swap, or left behind when the reader is moved to a new unit. A cracked or missing holder is a common reason readers end up loose on the dash, and a loose reader gets knocked, unplugged or ignored.
Geotab's harness document says very little about the bracket itself, so the practical guidance on this page draws on Geotab's IOX-NFCREADER installation documentation.
Geotab lists the bracket for the IOX-NFCREADER. The reader connects to the GO device's IOX expansion port through a 90 degree USB connector, and Geotab states driver identification works with all GO7 and newer devices and variants, while keyless use needs a GO9 or newer. The bracket itself is a mechanical part and fits wherever the reader would be mounted in a car, van, pickup or truck cab.
For keyless installs on the windshield, Geotab uses a different optional window mount, the SPR-NFCBRKTV2ASY, which comes with dual-lock tape. The SPR-NFCBRACKET is the screw-down holder, so it belongs on the dash or a trim surface.
Driver ID only works if drivers can reach the reader and actually use it. When a holder breaks, the reader tends to get stuffed into a cup holder or left swinging on its cable, and tap rates fall. Managers then see trips with no driver attached, which undermines safety scoring, hours reporting and any coaching program built on who was behind the wheel.
A replacement bracket puts the reader back where it belongs, at a fixed point every driver knows. It is also the part we reach for when a fleet moves readers between vehicles during replacements, because the original bracket is usually screwed down and does not come out cleanly.
Geotab's bracket entry says to use the screws or double-sided tape to fix it to the vehicle. Its reader documentation adds detail, which we follow:
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Part number | SPR-NFCBRACKET |
| Use | Replacement mounting bracket and holder for IOX-NFCREADER |
| Kit contents | Bracket and holder, 2 screws, double-sided tape |
| Mounting | Screws for the final mount; tape holds position during install |
| Reader compatibility | Driver ID: GO7 and newer; keyless: GO9 and newer |
| Window mount alternative | SPR-NFCBRKTV2ASY (optional, dual-lock tape) |
| Country of origin | China |
The tape is a placement aid, not the fix, so a bracket that is only taped will come off on the first hot day. Check behind the dash before drilling. Keep the reader out of the driver's sightline and away from airbag covers, and do not let the cable bend sharply where it leaves the reader. If a Driver ID relay is fitted, Geotab notes the relay has to be activated before use, or the GO device will beep continuously. Remind drivers not to keep NFC tags against wireless phone chargers, which Geotab warns can cause thermal damage.
Geotab lists a mounting bracket and holder for the IOX-NFCREADER, along with a pair of screws and a piece of double-sided tape. The reader itself is not included.
Geotab's NFC reader documentation says the supplied tape only holds the bracket in position during installation and is not a permanent mount; screws must be used to finish the job.
In driver identification use, Geotab says the reader's green LED flashes twice and the GO device gives a single beep when a valid tag is read. If nothing happens, we check the tag, the mount position and the IOX connection.
