Geotab HRN-RL07T1 Harness

The HRN-RL07T1 is a 7-pin harness that connects a Geotab GO RUGGED to Bobcat skid steers built from 2000 onward and to 2008 Bobcat excavators up to 14 tons. It collects J1939 engine data where the machine offers it.

What Is the HRN-RL07T1?

The HRN-RL07T1 is a 7-pin Bobcat harness for the Geotab GO RUGGED, listed for all Bobcat skid steers from 2000 onward and for 2008 Bobcat excavators up to 14 tons. The cable is 26.5 cm (10.4 in), and it collects J1939 engine data when the machine has it available.

Skid steers are the workhorse of landscaping crews, demolition contractors, farms and snow removal operations. Because Geotab's listing spans more than two decades of production, one harness part number can cover a fleet that mixes a well-worn early 2000s loader with a recent model. That breadth is the main reason this part shows up so often on compact equipment orders.

Which Vehicles and Devices Does the HRN-RL07T1 Work With?

Geotab ties this harness to two groups of Bobcat machines: every skid steer from 2000 onward, and 2008 Bobcat excavators up to 14 tons. It is used with the GO RUGGED, Geotab's sealed device rated IP68 and IP69K, and it is not listed as replacing an older part or needing a base harness.

Geotab places newer Bobcat equipment, mini excavators for example, under the 6-pin HRN-RL06T1, so the connector on the machine decides which of the two applies. The 26.5 cm length uses little of the 2 m connected cable maximum.

What Problem Does It Solve on the Job?

Skid steers get loaned between crews, left at job sites over weekends and hauled on open trailers. They are small enough to load quickly, which makes them a common theft target, and owners frequently lose track of which unit is at which property. A GO RUGGED on each machine answers the location question. The 7-pin harness adds the machine's own data where it exists, so hour counts and engine information line up with what the machine itself records.

For snow contractors, the season is short and every hour matters. Knowing which loader ran overnight and for how long supports billing by the event or by the hour. For landscapers, accurate hours keep oil changes and grease intervals on schedule, which matters on machines that spend their lives in dust.

How Is the HRN-RL07T1 Installed?

There are no harness-specific instructions on Geotab's list for this part, so the install draws on the GO RUGGED guide. We handle a skid steer like this:

  1. Note the GO RUGGED serial, the loader's serial and its hour meter, and register the device before going to the machine.
  2. Lower the lift arms to the ground or onto approved arm supports before any work in or around the cab, switch off and keep the device unplugged.
  3. Find the 7-pin connector on the machine and confirm the pin count matches.
  4. Connect the harness, then plug in the GO RUGGED with the weatherproof seals fully seated.
  5. Keep the total run at or under 2 m (6.5 ft). Do not connect a second T-harness to this one.
  6. Mount the device on a solid part of the frame or cab structure with sight of the sky. Secure the device and both sides of each joint with cable ties, since skid steer vibration is severe.
  7. Start the machine and wait for the three status LEDs to go solid and the beeps to finish. Confirm the device shows Pass in MyInstall and enter the asset name and hour reading.

What Should You Watch for When Fitting It?

Never work under raised lift arms without the machine's arm support engaged. Old skid steers often have chafed or patched cab wiring, so inspect the 7-pin connector for corrosion and broken latches before plugging in. Keep the harness clear of the tilting cab hinge and the seat bar switch linkage. Put the device somewhere a pressure washer will not hit it head on every day, even though the device is sealed, because the connectors take the abuse first.

Which Related Harnesses Should You Compare?

What Are Common Questions About the HRN-RL07T1?

Does the HRN-RL07T1 fit every Bobcat skid steer?

Geotab lists it for all Bobcat skid steers from 2000 onward. Machines built before 2000 are outside that listing, so we inspect them before recommending a harness.

Which Bobcat excavators does it cover?

Geotab names 2008 Bobcat excavators up to 14 tons. Newer Bobcat equipment such as current mini excavators is listed under the 6-pin HRN-RL06T1 instead.

Why might an older skid steer show no engine data?

Geotab says the harness collects J1939 engine data if available. Some machines in a range this long may not broadcast it, in which case the device still tracks location and activity.
