The HRN-RD04S1 is Geotab's Polaris interface harness, a 50 cm ECM cable that links a GO RUGGED device to the engine computer on Polaris ATVs, side-by-sides and snowmobiles. It lets a fleet log engine data from machines that never had a truck-style port.

The HRN-RD04S1 is a short interface harness that connects a Geotab GO RUGGED device to the engine control module on Polaris off-road vehicles. Geotab built it for the machines that sit outside normal road-vehicle telematics: snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and side-by-sides. Because it plugs into the engine computer side of the machine, it is described as an ECM harness that can collect engine data rather than simply feeding the tracker power.
That matters to anyone running a mixed fleet of utility machines. Farms, parks crews, utility teams and security patrols all put real hours on Polaris units that rarely get written down. A rugged tracker on the right harness turns that guesswork into recorded trips, location and engine information that sits in the same MyGeotab database as the trucks.
In Geotab's naming pattern, the two digits in a part number give the pin or wire count, so the 04 here points to a four-way connection. The cable itself is short at 50 cm, which suits the compact frames of these machines, where there is little room to hide a long harness.
Geotab lists Polaris off-road machines as the target, with snowmobiles, ATVs and side-by-sides named as examples. It does not publish a model or year list for this harness, so we do not assume every Polaris build has the same connection. Before ordering, we look at the machine itself and confirm the engine-side connector.
On the device side, the part is listed for the GO RUGGED line, specifically the GR7, GR8 and GR9. It is not presented as a harness for the standard GO9 or GO10. Geotab also caps the connected cable run for this harness at 2 meters (6.5 feet). The Geotab Marketplace listing shows it under the Base, Pro and ProPlus device plans.
Small off-road machines are the assets most likely to vanish from a fleet report. They get lent between crews, parked in sheds, left at the far end of a property and run by whoever grabs the key. A plain battery tracker can show where a machine sits, but it cannot tell a manager whether the engine actually ran or for how long.
With an ECM connection, a supervisor can compare engine time against assigned work, spot a unit that is idling for hours, plan service by real usage and catch after-hours use. For a snowmobile or side-by-side that sees mud, snow, spray and washdowns, the GO RUGGED pairing matters, because Geotab rates that device line for liquids, dust and pressure washing.
Geotab treats GO RUGGED work as a professional install, and the general sequence below follows its GO9 RUGGED documentation:
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Part number | HRN-RD04S1 |
| Type | Polaris interface (ECM) harness |
| Length | 50 cm / 20 in |
| Compatible devices | GO RUGGED: GR7, GR8, GR9 |
| Vehicle types | Polaris snowmobiles, ATVs, side-by-sides |
| Max connected cable length | 2 m / 6.5 ft |
| Data | Able to capture engine data |
| Country of origin | China |
Off-road frames flex and vibrate far more than a truck dash, so loose cable is the first thing that fails. Tie the harness on both sides of each connection and keep it clear of hot exhaust and moving suspension. Geotab notes the weather-resistant connector terminals on GO RUGGED gear can be de-pinned for tight routing, but only careful work keeps the seal intact. The GO9 RUGGED also does not support single-wire CAN or medium-speed CAN, so if engine data does not appear, that is one of the first things we check. Should the machine throw a fault, stall or lose power once the tracker is in, switch it off and pull the device; our technicians then find out why.
Geotab lists it for the GO RUGGED family only, naming the GR7, GR8 and GR9. For a standard GO device on a Polaris machine, we would look at a different connection method before ordering anything.
Geotab publishes it at 50 centimeters, or about 20 inches. Anything added to it has to keep the whole run at or under 2 meters (6.5 feet).
Geotab describes it as an ECM harness able to capture engine data, so it is meant for more than position tracking. What each specific model reports depends on the machine and firmware, which is why we confirm data in MyGeotab after the install.
