The HRN-RX06S4 is Geotab's 6-way IOX harness for the GO RUGGED, the 100 cm harness required before any IOX add-on module can be connected to that device, with a weather-resistant gray connector.

The HRN-RX06S4 is a 6-way IOX harness that adds IOX expansion support to the GO RUGGED, and Geotab says it is required to install any IOX add-on on that device. It is 100 cm (39 in) long, and its gray connector is the weather-resistant part of the assembly.
IOX modules are Geotab's add-ons for extra inputs, outputs and accessories. On standard GO devices they plug into an expansion port, but the sealed GO RUGGED handles expansion through this dedicated harness instead. On the GO RUGGED, the IOX port connection uses pins 2 through 5 for CAN Low, CAN High, power and ground.
The device is the GO RUGGED, on any vehicle or machine where it is installed and an auxiliary connection is needed. The harness is independent of the vehicle; what it pairs with is the IOX module. Geotab's GO9 RUGGED page names driver feedback options such as the IOX-BUZZ external buzzer and IOX-GOTALK, which reach the device this way.
Geotab's identification doc lists a maximum connected cable length of 1 m (3.2 ft) for this harness, shorter than the usual 2 m (6.5 ft). It shows China as country of origin, with no superseded part and no separate installation document listed. On power, the GO9 RUGGED page caps the combined current passed to IOX devices in a daisy chain at 2750 mA.
Equipment fleets often want more than location and engine data. They want to know when a PTO engages, when a boom or blade is in use, or they want an audible alert for the operator. Those features come from IOX modules, and on a GO RUGGED none of them can connect without the RX06S4. Ordering it alongside the device, even when IOX work is planned for a later phase, saves a second trip.
The weather-resistant gray connector also matters on machines that are washed down or parked outside, where an exposed accessory connection would be the first thing to fail.
Any GO RUGGED work, this harness included, is a professional installation under Geotab's rules. With no part-specific document listed, our technicians follow Geotab's device rules and IOX power budget:
Geotab's overall harness rules still apply on the vehicle side: total harness length no more than 2 m (6.5 ft) and no T-harness connected to another.

The 1 m connected length is the easiest limit to break, especially when a module needs to sit near the equipment it monitors. Plan the layout before drilling or mounting anything. Leave the gray connector in place, since Geotab notes it is the only weatherproof element and removing it reduces protection. Total up IOX current draw before adding modules to an existing install. Also note Geotab's limits on what the GO RUGGED can read: it does not support single-wire CAN or medium-speed CAN, so some seat belt and odometer data on certain vehicles is not available through an IOX either.
Yes. Geotab's GO9 RUGGED documentation states the HRN-RX06S4 is required to install any IOX add-on on that device.
Geotab lists a 1 m (3.2 ft) maximum connected cable length for this harness, half the 2 m figure that applies to most of its harnesses. We plan IOX placement around that limit.
Geotab gives a budget rather than a count: the combined maximum draw of all IOX devices in the daisy chain must not exceed 2750 mA, so we add up each module's rating before designing the install.
