The HRN-GA2NATRL is Geotab's trailer power harness for the GO Anywhere Plus, wiring the tracker into a North American SAE J560 trailer circuit so it runs on tractor power whenever the trailer is hooked up.

The HRN-GA2NATRL is a trailer power harness that ties a Geotab GO Anywhere Plus into the electrical feed a tractor sends down to its trailer. Geotab built it around the SAE J560 seven-way connection used on North American trailers. The tracker end carries a 6-pin Chogori plug, and the far end is a set of flying leads that tie into the trailer's own wiring behind the nose plug.
A trailer has no engine and usually no battery of its own, which is why most trailer trackers live on internal cells. This harness lets the GO Anywhere Plus borrow power from the tractor whenever the trailer is coupled, and Geotab notes that, wired this way, the device rebuilds trips while the trailer is connected to a running truck. Once the trailer is dropped or the truck is switched off, the tracker drops back to battery-only operation and keeps reporting.
This harness is made for the GO Anywhere Plus only. Geotab lists it for SAE J560 trailer connections, which covers the seven-way plug found on dry vans, reefers, flatbeds and most other tractor-drawn trailers. Its install guide also gives a light-duty layout for trailers wired to SAE J2863, the style common on smaller towed equipment.
Its published length is 160 cm (63 in), with a 1.7 m (5.6 ft) ceiling on the total connected cable. The fuse kit for this harness is the HRN-2AFUSEKIT, which Geotab assigns to the trailer harness and specifically keeps off the three-wire harness. Since the tracker accepts 12 V and 24 V inputs, standard trailer circuits are inside its range.
Trailer pools are where fleets lose track of money. A trailer sitting at a customer dock for two weeks, a unit hooked to the wrong tractor, or a reefer dropped in a yard with nobody sure when it last moved are all everyday headaches. Battery trackers help, but they report sparingly to save power. Wiring the tracker to the tractor's feed means the trailer reports trips in detail while it is moving, which is exactly when dispatch and customers want answers.
It also takes load off the internal battery. Geotab notes that wired operation uses the host's power and prolongs device life, so the battery is spent mainly on parked time.

On light-duty J2863 trailers, pin 2 may be either constant or switched, so it has to be proven before the blue lead goes on it. If it turns out to be constant, the trailer should be unplugged from the tow vehicle when not in use to avoid flattening that battery. Geotab also says not to use pin 2 at all on a trailer that carries its own auxiliary battery, leaving only white and brown connected. Nose boxes take road spray constantly, so sealed crimps and dielectric grease are not optional. Silicone goes on screw holes only, never around the base of the device, where it can block the battery vent.
On a heavy-duty J560 circuit, Geotab's guide puts white on pin 1 ground, brown on pin 6 tail and running lights, and blue on pin 7 auxiliary or ABS power. A light-duty J2863 layout moves the blue lead to pin 2.
Geotab says a wired GO Anywhere Plus on a trailer rebuilds trips while it is connected to a running truck, then falls back to its internal battery when the trailer is dropped or the truck is shut off.
Yes. Geotab's trailer guide says the harness can be cut to length, which helps keep the run tidy on a short nose. We protect the cut leads in loom and seal every crimp.
