The HRN-GA2CARCIG is Geotab's cigarette lighter power harness, a 100 cm plug-in cord that powers a GO Anywhere Plus from a vehicle's 12 V accessory socket instead of wiring it to the battery.

The HRN-GA2CARCIG is a power cord that runs a Geotab GO Anywhere Plus from a vehicle's cigarette lighter or 12 V accessory socket. Geotab's own name for it is the GO Anywhere Plus CAR Cigarette Lighter Power Harness, and its purpose is simple: give the tracker outside power without cutting into the vehicle's wiring.
It is the plainest of the four GO Anywhere Plus power harnesses. The three-wire, external power and trailer harnesses all end in flying leads that a technician splices, crimps and fuses. This one ends in a plug. That difference shapes where it makes sense: short-term placements, vehicles a fleet does not own outright, and situations where nobody wants permanent changes to the electrical system.
The only device it is listed for is the GO Anywhere Plus. On the vehicle side, it needs a working cigarette lighter or accessory power socket, which in practice means cars, pickups, vans and many truck cabs. Geotab's harness list does not give a model list, because the socket is close to universal; what varies is how each vehicle powers it.
Geotab publishes the cord at 100 cm (39.4 in) and limits the connected cable length for this harness to 1.1 m (3.6 ft), the shortest allowance of the GO Anywhere Plus family. It is listed as made in Taiwan.
Not every tracked vehicle is a long-term fleet unit. Rental and lease returns, loaner vehicles, short-term contract vehicles and borrowed units are all cases where splicing into a harness is either not allowed or not worth it. Plugging in a tracker that also carries its own battery covers those jobs quickly and comes out just as quickly.
There is also a reporting payoff over running the device on its battery alone. Geotab says that when wired power is present, the GO Anywhere Plus uses its full trip-rebuilding algorithm and leans on the host battery to stretch device life. When power goes away, it drops back to battery-only mode. Plugged into a socket, the tracker gets the richer behaviour whenever the socket is live and still reports when it is not.
Geotab has not published a dedicated install guide for this harness. The order we follow, built from Geotab's GO Anywhere Plus guidance, is:
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Part number | HRN-GA2CARCIG |
| Compatible device | GO Anywhere Plus |
| Vehicle connection | Cigarette lighter / accessory power socket |
| Length | 100 cm / 39.4 in |
| Max connected cable length | 1.1 m / 3.6 ft |
| Splicing required | None |
| Country of origin | Taiwan |
The socket itself is the weak point. Worn sockets let plugs back out over rough roads, and drivers pull trackers to charge phones, so we choose a socket the driver does not need and tie the cord so it is not tempting to unplug. Know whether the socket is switched or always live before relying on the data; behaviour with the key off will differ between the two. Never let the cord drape across the pedals or near an airbag deployment path. If the job will last for years rather than months, a hardwired harness is usually the better long-term answer.
No. Geotab describes it as connecting the GO Anywhere Plus to a vehicle cigarette lighter for power, so it plugs into the socket rather than being cut into vehicle wiring.
Geotab says the GO Anywhere Plus falls back to battery-only operation whenever wired power is unavailable. The tracker keeps working on its internal pack, just with the reduced reporting of its battery mode.
The cord is 100 cm (39.4 in) and Geotab caps the connected run for this harness at 1.1 m (3.6 ft). We plan the tracker position around that limit before mounting anything.
