The HRN-DC14T1 is a 14-pin T-harness that connects a Geotab GO RUGGED to CAT equipment built from 2016 onward. It is rated IP67 when used with the GO RUGGED and measures 27 cm.

The HRN-DC14T1 is a 14-pin T-harness that links a Geotab GO RUGGED telematics device to Caterpillar machines from the 2016 model year forward. Geotab rates it IP67 when it is used with the GO RUGGED, and the harness is 27 cm (10.6 in) long.
Caterpillar equipment has its own way of presenting diagnostic data. Geotab's own harness guide points out that CAT engines can use different pinouts, connectors and engine data from the generic heavy-duty layouts found in on-road trucks. That is why a universal 9-pin harness is not always the right answer on yellow iron, and why Geotab offers CAT-specific parts. The DC14T1 covers the 14-pin connection on the newer machines, giving the device a direct path to the equipment's data.
Geotab lists the harness for CAT vehicles from 2016 onward, used with the GO RUGGED. That covers the kind of late-model fleet a contractor or rental house typically runs: excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, backhoes and similar machines that carry a 14-pin diagnostic connection. The model year is the main filter Geotab gives, so the connector itself should be confirmed on the machine before the order is placed.
Geotab does not list a part that the DC14T1 replaces, and no separate base harness is required. The 27 cm length leaves most of the 2 m maximum cable allowance available if the device needs to sit a little further from the connector. Geotab also lists a second CAT route, the HRN-RMRCA1 adapter, which works only in combination with the HRN-GR09K1 universal rugged 9-pin T-harness.
On a dirt job, machines rotate between sites, operators and sometimes owners. A project manager wants to know which excavator is burning fuel at idle, which dozer is close to its service interval and which loader has sat unused for a week. Those answers come from engine data, not just GPS. A three-wire install would show location and an ignition-based hour count, but it would miss the richer data that the machine's own connector can supply.
The harness also suits the environment. CAT cabs get muddy, open-station machines take rain, and wash-down after a job is routine. An IP67 rating at the connector, matched to a device rated IP68 and IP69K, means the electrical joint is not the weak point in the install.
Geotab does not publish separate instructions for this part on its harness list, so our technicians apply the GO RUGGED installation rules:

Model year alone can mislead, because a machine registered in 2016 may have been built earlier, and repowered or rebuilt units can carry different wiring. Count the pins on the connector before ordering. Connector locations vary between machine families, so expect to remove a console trim panel. Leave slack where the cab tilts or the console pivots, and keep the harness out of the path of the seat slide and the joystick linkages.
Geotab lists this harness for CAT vehicles from 2016 onward. For an older machine, we identify the connector on site before choosing a part rather than assuming this one fits.
Geotab rates it IP67 when it is paired with the GO RUGGED device, which suits open-cab and wash-down conditions.
It is a T-harness, so it is designed to sit in line at the connector rather than take it over completely. We confirm access to the diagnostic connection before closing up the panel.
